I did not try with a longer cable. I used an extension cable that I had lying around. That worked. But it should work with a long cable as long as you use the one with the appropriate pole. Amazon does not allow external links. Google headphonesty and see the type of cable you will require.

Not sure what you mean by off the self but it’s a standard 3.5 but trrs which work on all platforms
