I'm comparing this webcam to my old Microsoft VX3000 640x480 standard definition webcam, and also to my high quality Canon EOS 6D dslr camera when used as webcam. Image quality is much better than the VX3000, as it should be expected. Image quality not quite as good as the Canon dslr, which should be no surprise. It is much simpler and easier to install and use than my dslr, and quality is definitely good enough to suit me, and I'm quite particular. My main reason for selecting this webcam was to test the suitability of the built-in lighting, and I believe that it is good enough to make it worthwhile. Lowest setting of light is not enough to help. Medium helps a little, and the high setting is just about right. This assessment is only valid for an individual sitting within a foot or two at the most away from the camera. Otherwise you might not find the light sufficient. Using the much larger dslr camera requires more power, and need for tripod or other mounting mechanism. The larger camera also necessitates a different viewing angle since it doesn't fit easily centered on your monitor. I'm happy keeping and using this Angetube webcam.
