Good budget Variable ND with caveats
picked up this K&F Variable ND2-400 Lens filter for several of my lenses @ 82mm. It's a bit of a beefy filter with the fit and finish being excellent. When placing the filter onto any lens I first rotate the filter counter-clockwise until it feels flush with the lens then I twist it clockwise, tightening the ND onto the lens. Moving from each stop just takes a slight twist of the filter which has grooves in the twisting portion to make it easier to change stops. Testing: Going through all the stops on a tripod the color varies very little until you get to 8-9 stops, which can always be corrected in post. The filter doesn't lose much in quality of sharpness at the lower ranges of the ND but as you creep above 5 stops you begin to lose quality. Overall, if you're looking for a good budget ND filter, this one will definitely work and not break the bank, I'd just watch out for using it in extreme circumstances where you need to go above -6 stops.
