There isn't a mute on the mic, but in the program you're using it with (Zoom, BlueJeans, Google Meet). You could unplug the camera if you're worried about the mic itself. I am not. I do appreciate the privacy cover.

Yes, you can mute it from your web application that you’re using.

Couple of ways, in Windows, go to device mge and disable. In apps like Google Meet, MS TeamViewer, and others you can select which mic you want to use and also mute the mic via button on the various task bars.
