A motion detector trail camera uses a passive infrared (PIR) sensor to detect changes in temperature caused by movement. When the sensor detects movement, it triggers the camera to take a photo or record a video. Some cameras also have a time-lapse mode that takes photos at set intervals regardless of movement.
