Warm light without sacrificing sharpness
For an "effect" filter, I'm finding it quite controllable, which is exactly what I was looking for to avoid turning every photo into an '80s music video. K&F usually releases products with a good price-to-quality ratio, and this one is noticeably a step above in terms of finish.
On a practical note: the threading. It fits smoothly onto my lens and also onto an adapter ring I sometimes use, without that gritty feel of cheap filters. The metal ring has a good grip, and the glass comes well-protected in its rigid case (a small detail, but it gives me peace of mind when I'm carrying it loose in my backpack). The multi-layer coating is noticeable because it resists fingerprints and the occasional drop better, and cleaning it with the included cloth is a breeze.
In terms of image quality, the "gold mist" isn't a blurring filter; it's more of a highlight softener with a warm glow around strong points (streetlights, reflections on cars, an indoor lamp). I've done tests with the same scene and haven't noticed a significant change in exposure, at most a tiny bit, and the color shifts towards gold without turning a strange orange. I've also used it on a couple of quick portraits and yes, it does soften the skin a bit (pores and small blemishes are less visible) without losing focus on the eyes. And although it sounds ridiculous, with it on you feel a bit like a movie spy, because you know you're subtly "altering" the scene.
In short, a soft vintage effect, well-constructed, and easy to apply.
