the removable plate is arca standard size.

The maximum height is 67", including the center column vertically. Using the center column horizontally reduces max height to 49". The center column goes horizontal for 10" until you see a STOP sign.
Probably much more useful and cheaper is a light stand boom. Check this out on Amazon for $40.

It can be added to almost any tripod as it has the required tripod thread, BUT on the website I saw some comments that you need to be careful how you remove the clip connector (designed to place camera over a monitor) . Apparently it could break, which shouldn't stop you using the camera on the tripod, but you will not be able to reattach for use above a monitor. The weight is no issue for this tripod, even if using the horizontal arm.
