A bit boomy-fine for grab and go
Mics are awfully difficult to say yea or nay since what one hears varies by content, recording device and playback device. All I could do is compare it to what I have in that price range which is a Polsen CS-88A and a PowerDewise lavalier. I think I prefer the Polsen with its low cut roll off, but the differences are minor enough that with the proper post processing I think one could make them all sound pretty much the same. The Polsen uses a foam wind screen and offers a 10 db boost, so it is the loudest of the bunch, but also the largest and needs a battery. The PowerDewise offers no camera mount and has no directionality. The K&F has a nice little hot shoe mount, and the included desktop tripod is adequate for casual speech voice recording.I ran the K&F into my old Zoom H1 and I think it makes a nice mono, somewhat directional mic for use that way. When in this price range, unless you have the mics side by side, I think you just have to go with features and accessories, and plan to do the best you can with the audio you get from them. If you like the compact size, the deadcat and could use a little plastic tripod, then this kit will probably do nicely for you.
