Perfect for long distance!
I ordered one of these for myself and then months later for my long-distance boyfriend. It's nice to have something to prop your phone up and talk to someone.

Picks up long distance
I'm a court reporter and use this mic to record every job I take down. Although I have had pretty good success with previous mics, none of them could pick up the guy at the end of the conference table nearly as well. I have not issues with it recording random noises in the room either. Be warned, it's quite a big bigger than it looks.

Works long distance in home
I have a Netgear Nighthawk WIFI router (AC1750) connected at one end of my home. The signal was weak at the other end of the house (bedroom) having to go through two walls and with a 50 foot distance. I purchased this Netgear Extender. It was an easy set up that took about three minutes (including finding a good permanent location). I tested it with two different devices and they both got a very good signal.
