I originally purchased these to help me sleep. I have a white noise app and my previous headset reached the end of its meaningful life. They were bulky too, so I wanted something lighter. These were cost effective, but I didn't expect much. I only wanted them for white noise anyway. What a surprise when I plugged them into my iPhone and listened to music! They have GREAT bass! And quite decent mid-tones too, overall, very well balanced. They're also comfortable enough to sleep with, and they stay in place! The noise canceling works very well too. I'm really happy with these.
