Gem in the rough. Ok so I'm not a professional and as such, my review is based on casual usage only. BUT...when I ordered this I thought "well it's cheap enough if it doesn't work..then I'll know".But it is used with my go-pro set up for marketing and light use for my own business. Sound quality is IMHO quite good, I make sure that If I am talking, I stand on the side of the mic (behind) or of course in front, I can be up to 12' away and it picks up my voice with little to no ambient background noise.On windy days, I purchased the "dead cat" mic cover here on Amazon as well, wasn't cheap at $55 CDN (actually quite spendy for a fur cover) but it really cuts out the wind noise so I suppose it was worth the price.I also like the fact it has a vibration dampener as well, too many videos I hear the bounce of the mic, or rubbing of the cable on something, ruins an otherwise decent video. I also like the fact the cable is spiral wound as well. The power on/off is a bit odd as you turn the battery housing cover to turn on/off, and there is no indicator light to tell you it's ether or. According to the mfg, the only time you will see a light "on" constantly is if the battery is low...hmmm.Overall, good to better build quality (for the price point) and some nice features to get one started.
