Beautiful soft golden glow without killing sharpness
Another solid filter from K&F Concept. I’ve been really happy with their higher-end Nano-X / X-Series filters, and this one is no exception. I recently picked up a Sony 24–70 GM II that uses 82mm filters, so I’ve been upgrading my kit ahead of a Puerto Rico trip in February. This gold diffusion filter fits perfectly and feels very well made.
The gold specks in the glass are intentional and evenly distributed, and they do exactly what they’re supposed to do. When pointed toward light sources, you get a soft, warm glow that blooms highlights nicely without turning the image into mush (see screenshots). Contrast is slightly lowered in a pleasing, cinematic way, but overall sharpness stays intact. It’s especially nice for video, portraits, or any scene that feels a little too clinical straight out of the lens.
Build quality is excellent, threads are smooth, and it even comes with a microfiber cloth. If you’re looking for a subtle, tasteful golden diffusion effect rather than something heavy-handed, this is a great option and well worth it.
