2-in-1 CPL + Black Diffusion Filter: a natural look with a cinematic touch
I tested the 82mm version of the K&F Concept 2-in-1 filter during several portrait sessions, and the experience proved very convincing.
The filter comes with a cleaning cloth and, most importantly, a very well-designed protective case. The filter is held securely inside by silicone inserts, which effectively protect it during transport. Another practical detail: the case is designed to accommodate several filter sizes, making it reusable if you own other diameters.
In the field, the quality of the glass and the Nano-Xcel coating is immediately apparent. The integrated CPL polarizing filter helps control reflections, especially on skin, by reducing glare and improving skin tone saturation. Simultaneously, the Black Mist 1/4 diffusion provides a subtle cinematic effect: highlights become slightly softer, contrasts are somewhat reduced, and skin appears smoother while retaining detail.
The colors remain very neutral, with no visible color cast, which limits post-production corrections. Combining CPL and diffusion in a single filter is also very practical: it avoids stacking multiple filters, reduces the risk of vignetting, and simplifies handling in the field.
One small point for improvement, however: it's a shame the filter name isn't printed on the storage case. When you own several filters, this would have allowed for quicker identification. Nevertheless, this is a minor detail that doesn't detract from the overall quality of the product.
Conclusion
In my opinion, this K&F Concept filter is an excellent solution for photographers and videographers who want to both control reflections with CPL and add a softer, more artistic touch with Black Mist diffusion.
The quality of the materials, the very clean optical rendering, and the clever storage case complete an overall very successful product. A versatile accessory that I wholeheartedly recommend for those seeking a natural look with a subtle cinematic signature.
