This has been a great investment. The grip is as strong as a traditional camera mount and articulates to multiple angles. I did have to lubricate it as one of the pivot points was really tight, but a little dry silicone spray followed by bending the joint fixed it to a point. It still remains stiff, so I use a heavy-duty tripod to mount it when bending that joint. Trying to position it on a plastic mount tripod bends and warps the tripod while the joint stays locked in place. The pivot points are not held together with adjustable mounting hardware (screws) but with press-fit pins. If it were not for this joint problem, this would be a five-star phone tripod mount.It has standard mounting hardware, so it fits the bendable tripod included along with every other size and type of camera tripod we have in the house. It also has a steel ring that can stick to older phones and allows the phone holder to be used with those devices.The hardware is made of metal and feels heavy for its size, but it is not magnetic. Only the mounting ring is magnetic. It is strong and not likely to break easily. The magnet is so strong that it is more likely to bend with the phone than disconnect, so I pull the phone off from the pivot area side and not the free side of the ring.I do recommend this for convenience and ease of use despite the one joint being stiff.
