Great for contributing to a cinematic look, provided you know how to tame it!
As a Director of Photography, I always favor an organic, cinematic aesthetic over the sometimes overly "video-like" and clinical look of modern digital sensors. I constantly strive for a soft image that retains its character and sharpness without resorting to artificial blur. A regular user of the K&F Concept White Mist filter, I was able to test this Gold Diffusion version both in the studio and outdoors. The conclusion is undeniable: it performs with the same finesse as the white model, but adds that characteristic amber tint that instantly warms the atmosphere.

The filter's potential truly shines when shooting against the light. It's at this precise moment, depending on the amount of light hitting the gold microparticles integrated into the AGC optical glass, that the magic happens. Highlights soften to create warm halos, and a subtle golden veil lifts the blacks in the image, resulting in a warm and nostalgic feel. However, it's a double-edged sword. If the exposure isn't perfectly controlled, especially in natural light where control is limited, the filter can quickly kill all the contrast and ruin an image. It therefore requires a certain level of expertise to avoid transforming a scene into an overly milky look that couldn't be salvaged in post-production, even in RAW.

Personally, I use this filter very often in the studio on modern lenses that are a bit too sharp or overly detailed. It allows me to slightly soften that overly digital look (but not completely, so post-production in DaVinci Resolve is essential) and add a vintage haze without creating a "steamy bathroom" effect.

Otherwise, the build quality is really good, and cleaning fingerprints is easy thanks to its special technology.

In short, I think it's an excellent filter that adds an artistic touch, but it must be used sparingly and with a good understanding of how to manage light.
