UPDATE: (3-12-2020) From CHIRP "Issues" section, my problem may be related to my use of a cheap programming cable with a third party driver. But so far, the radios are working fine!Review is preliminary. Radios received today (March 6) and this review is primarily concerned with efforts to install a custom channel frequency and CTSS tone configuration. YMMV and all that!Ordered March 5 with delivery promised "two days after shipping info received". Actually received in ONE day! (yay!). HOWEVER, the CHIRP software used with other Baofeng radios (and which has a setting for BF-888S radios) did not work with these. Attempts to download a custom frequency/CTSS configuration got a CHIRP error "Radio refused to enter programing mode" (CHIRP version 'CHIRP daily 2020227"). Software for these named "888S" downloaded from the Miklor website also fails with a "Write data fail" statement. And after that attempt, the radio will just emit a continuous "Beeeeep" on any channel.HOWEVER, the software for the identical-appearing Retevis H-777 radios DOES work with these Baofengs! It's kludgy as all getout compared to CHIRP, but it does work.
