Perfect camera 3-way suction cup mount of impressive quality and function.
The suction cup mount set with ball heads is primarily designed for action cameras. Since there are always newcomers here, or users who are not so familiar with brands from the camera, film and video industry, rest assured in advance that K&F CONCEPT is an established brand here and is also represented in the very demanding sector.
As a result, expectations for this set were correspondingly high.
And, conclusion first, were met positively in all respects.
The “K&F CONCEPT” camera suction cup mount impresses immediately and in every respect.
The silk-matt black coloring, or anodizing, makes the suction cup holders look very professional.
A matter of taste, of course, but the optical design with the matte black elements and orange parts looks very good. Visually, we are also catapulting us into the top league here.
But is the mount also functional? Yes
The main body of the suction cups consists of a solid, perfectly CNC manufactured and correspondingly heavy high-quality aluminum block.
Together with the very solid rubber suction body, each suction cup unit weighs a whopping 157 g.
The entire design is very sturdy and the screwing of the upper aluminum block to the bottom with screws looks very valuable.
It feels like the rubber suction surface is also made of solid material. There is a thick round lip at the bottom for a secure seal. This also works on slightly structured but dense surfaces.
The service does not raise any questions and is self-explanatory.
Put on the vacuum cleaner, then press the pump pen until the bright line is no longer visible. The vacuum builds up relatively quickly. However, up to 25 pumping movements are necessary for complete suction on a thick glass plate.
(If necessary, wet the surface or the edge of the rubber surface a bit with liquid). Pumping itself is naturally a bit difficult.
We can release the lifter by pressing on one of the rubber studs next to the inscription “OPEN” and pulling on the suction cup. In most cases, the suction lifter does not yet come off voluntarily, or simply. Due to the very solid thick rubber design of the suction cup, a lot of force has to be used here. Even though it seems strange, you should practice here at room temperature and in peace. It is best to press one of the knobs up strongly with both thumbs. Then it also comes off well and relatively quickly. Unfortunately, only 3 coffee-to-go lids are included to protect the suction cups.
The suction cup is equipped with threaded holes to attach a wide variety of equipment. There are ¼” standard screw fasteners at the top. The middle ones each have ARRI location pin holes for twist-proof mounting.
The specified holding forces can be fully trusted after some tests and experience. Depending on the surface and type of attachment, there is also a lot more to it.
Clean surfaces that are as flat, airtight and smooth as possible are of course a must here.
No matter where and how. I generally also protect suction cups, cameras, etc. with “safetys”. (These should be secure ropes, cords, or the like, adjusted in length). Thankfully, a 4 mm “paracord” rope of 2 m length is also included here.
The set also includes a very versatile, extremely sturdy magic arm in full metal design.
Here too, the functional design suggests experience and practice-oriented application. There are many Magic Arms, even very good ones. The flat, profiled design of the clamp arms is a special feature here. They offer extreme strength and stability.
¼” threaded screws and two spring-loaded safety pins are attached to the ball heads for mounting other accessories.
The balls, which are usually smooth but fitted with a sturdy rubber ring, contribute to the overall stability of the Magic Arm assembly. The large, ergonomic clamping lever also allows sensitive and very firm tightening.
Strangely enough, the “tension screw” (the orange lever) on this clamp cannot be pulled outwards against spring force and then changed in position so as not to interfere. On my similar K&F Magic arm with cold shoe mounts, the identical-looking lever can be adjusted 6 times in its position.
Even individually, a very universal, very high-quality, extremely stable magic arm.
Two of the suction cups are pre-assembled on the top with sturdy ball heads and connected to a metal bridge. Here, the suction cup heads can even be swiveled from 20° to 25° and can therefore also be attached to curved or inclined surfaces.
The bridge is made of 3 mm thick metal and is therefore sturdy. With this bridge, the two suction cups are mounted 187 mm apart. Certainly sufficient for the intended purpose. However, I would like a bridge with significantly more wingspan, also as a purchased part, which would also be adjustable, in order to be able to create even more stable triangle fastenings.
Since the ball mounts are embossed in the metal bridge, simple DIY solutions are unfortunately not possible.
The 35 mm — 110 mm long selfie stick consists of 5 telescopic elements. This makes it inherently more unstable, but also more compact than sticks with fewer elements. However, it is firmly tightened and installed very stable and relatively wobble-free. The solid metal design also contributes to stability and durability.
With the knurled locking rings, telescopic elements can be adjusted very firmly.
The other accessories are in no way inferior to the quality of the suction cups and the other main parts.
A simple mobile phone holder and an action cam adapter are also included.
These are rather simple parts but serve their purpose.
Very versatile as a set, as intended, or a two-person bridge, as well as as individual components. The quality and extensive functions are beyond question.
I can therefore share my full enthusiasm and recommendation here.
One of the very few products that receive 5 stars and one more as a bonus.
