I ordered it in the 82mm size so I could use it with various lenses via step-up adapters, and I believe that was a very wise decision, as I get great use out of it across a range of focal lengths.

The filter creates a six-pointed star effect on all point light sources—making string lights, streetlamps, and illuminated shop windows look incredibly striking in photos. The best part is that you can rotate the filter to change the orientation of the stars, allowing you to fine-tune the effect to suit your image composition; the rotation mechanism operates very smoothly yet firmly holds the position you select without drifting on its own. The threading screws easily onto the lens without binding or any issues. The Japanese optical glass—featuring an 18-layer multi-coating—minimizes internal reflections and maintains excellent light transmission; I’ve noticed that it introduces no appreciable color casts and does not significantly degrade the sharpness of the base image.

It comes with three microfiber cleaning cloths—which work very well for keeping the glass clean—all neatly stored inside a sturdy plastic case.
