My digital spotlight: I finally no longer look like a caveman in the zoom call
The magnetic selfie light was well packaged and delivered quickly. I'm not an Instagram model, but since I want to video conference calls from home and film my hobbies (painting miniatures), my lighting has been my worst enemy. This little wonder, which is the size of an ordinary powder box and weighs only 98 grams, is my secret savior. I actually use it on a daily basis. It's compact (6.4 x 7.5 x 2.3 cm) so I always carry it around in my laptop bag. In the evening, when the light in my study only casts unhealthy shadows, I quickly strap it to my cell phone. Thanks to the built-in N52 magnet, installation is super easy, especially on mobile phone models from the iPhone 12. The situation in which the thing made me a quick savior: Last week I had an extremely important, spontaneous video call with a customer. I had just come in from a welding job at the workshop. In the heat of the moment, I quickly clamped the light to my smartphone, where it was stably adsorbed thanks to the strong magnetic force. But before I hit “video on,” I noticed a bright reflection: the integrated mirror. A quick look in the mirror showed me unembellished: I had a thick, black strip of soot across my forehead! Thanks to this useful detail, I was able to correct the mishap unnoticed before I went live. It saved me from going down in customer annals as “Dirty Finch of the Month.” In addition, thanks to the two-axis rotation (360° horizontally and 270° vertically), I was able to quickly set the optimal angle to improve facial depth. What I particularly like: The 9-hour battery life of the 900 mAh battery is absolutely sufficient for all my calls and streams. I love the continuous adjustment of brightness and color temperature (from 3000K to 6500K). It works with a scroll wheel, which is much more convenient because you don't have to press buttons all the time and there is no key noise. The light is bright and even, improves my skin tones and, with 72 LEDs and CRI 95+, is also technically great. And for just 25.99€, it's really a must-have. Now for the little criticism: One point somewhat dampens the joy: The device does not support simultaneous charging and use. If the 900 mAh battery is running low in the middle of a lengthy project, I have to wait for it to pull juice again via the Type-C port. That can be really annoying during a three-hour stream. In addition, although the magnet is strong, if you wear a thicker phone case and the magnetic suction effect is not good, you have to install the enclosed magnetic trigger. While this is a solution, it is not as elegant as direct adsorption
