Top mobile stand with MagSafe hybrid — only the remote control holder fails
I take a lot of pictures with a camera and in everyday life with my smartphone, but I haven't actually owned a selfie stick yet. Since this stick's range of functions significantly exceeds that of a normal selfie stick, I was curious whether this hybrid of a mobile phone stand and a selfie stick including a remote control offered me added value in everyday life. On paper, it sounded like a really practical companion for traveling — I found the combination of MagSafe mount and classic clamp particularly exciting, in addition to the impressive 180cm cantilever. The stand comes in the usual simple, oblong K&F packaging. In addition to the stand itself, the box contains a charging cable for the remote control, short instructions and a self-adhesive magnetic ring, which can also be used to make non-MagSafe cell phones “suitable”. First, a personal insert: On my first trip, I treated the selfie stick like a small travel tripod and attached it to the outside of my backpack. I unfortunately lost the small trigger remote control during the first test on the go, as it seems to have come off. In my opinion, the clip-in holder on the stick is not designed to be secure enough — the remote control is stuck in the retaining clip at first glance, but too loose when you load it in the removal direction. Unfortunately, there is no additional lock. That's how my small trigger remote control seems to have come off and got lost on the hike. I only include this “secondarily” in the evaluation. Workmanship & construction The stand or selfie stick is clearly made of plastic, but as a result remains pleasantly light at just 390 g, which makes sense in this case and with the impressive lever arm. Completely made of aluminum would be more elegant, but it would make the whole thing significantly heavier (and also more expensive) and would be a clear disadvantage along the way. From my point of view, K&F combines the materials sensibly and has also created a haptically and visually attractive product: • The telescopic rod consists of seven aluminum segments, looks sturdy and can be pulled off softly. • The three feet are made of sturdy plastic, the struts are made of metal again. • The magnetic “lock” of the feet works surprisingly well and is completely wear-free. With the small rotary wheel, everything can also be easily unlocked. I was really impressed by the maximum height of 180 cm. For a mobile stand or selfie stick pushed together in transport mode, this is an exceptionally large cantilever. Of course, given this height and low weight, you shouldn't expect absolute wind stability when used as a tripod (no way to weigh the stand down additionally), but the stand stands solidly on normal ground. Head & mount The head is a mix of folding arm, central tilting thread and the actual mobile phone holder. When folded out, the mobile phone sits approx. 12-13 cm in front of the center of the stand, which provides interesting perspectives. The folding mechanism can be easily dosed or completely tightened using a wing nut. The holder itself is a hybrid and offers the option of clamping the smartphone or attaching it magnetically using MagSafe. MagSafe works super fast and lasts extremely well. There are also the classic clamping jaws, which must be folded out in this case. The smartphone can then be easily plugged in. The holding power is also sufficient for large and heavy smartphones. The small additional thread at the top is a clever extra. LED light, microphone receiver, small monitor — anything with a suitable thread can be attached there, including another small camera, if it has a tripod socket or an Arca plate. Positive • Very high maximum working height and boom (180 cm) with low weight • Well-coordinated mix of materials made of plastic and aluminum • Compact pack size, ideal for traveling • Sturdy, smoothly running telescopic segments • Clever details such as the additional thread and the magnetic foot lock • Hybrid mount: MagSafe and clamp • Versatile use — selfie stick or neutral stand • Somewhat susceptible to wind when outside, not subject to additional weight.Negative • Easy to lose the remote control: The mount doesn't hold well — the remote came loose during the first test and was immediately lost. Conclusion The K&F CONCEPT 3-in-1 mobile phone stand is a really powerful mobile stand and selfie stick for me: lightweight, flexible, sophisticated and with an impressive maximum height. The choice of materials is very reasonable, the structure is intuitive, and the hybrid mount makes the whole thing universally usable. The only real drawback is the poorly secured remote control holder — K&F should urgently improve this. When you're out and about, you shouldn't attach the selfie stick to the outside of your backpack or if you do, secure the remote control in any other way. I subtract one star for this small structural weakness of the otherwise very well thought-out product. Overall, a very good, versatile stand with minor weaknesses, which I can fully recommend as an extremely practical product despite my remote control blunder. I had a lot of fun with the product for a few days and was able to use it very well on the go. The price of around 30 euros is absolutely justified.
