This K&F Concept metal cage for the Insta360 X5 is one of the most thoughtfully designed accessories I’ve tested. From snap-in ease to flexible mounting, it’s clearly built with creators in mind and it looks fantastic doing it.PROS✅ Quick snap-on installation - The snap-in design makes it fast and easy to install or remove. It feels very secure even without the included safety screw. I still use the screw when riding my eBike since I’m in the honeymoon phase with the X5, but honestly, the fit is so tight and solid that I expect I’ll stop using it as I get more comfortable.✅ Built-in wind-noise-reducing foam - Foam padding is pre-installed on the sides to help reduce wind noise, and it even comes with 4 extra foam pads.✅ Premium all-metal build - The construction feels solid and high-end. It’s a bit heavier than some alternatives, but that added heft brings confidence.✅ Padded top and bottom - Padding is placed exactly where it’s needed. The sides aren’t padded, but I haven’t noticed any scratches - so clearly, it works.✅ Magnetic folding action-cam mount - The bottom features a magnetic, foldable Action Camera-style mount that lets you reuse your existing action camera mounts✅ Quick-release adapter included - The cage includes a quick-release base that matches the bottom of the X5’s native mount, so you can switch seamlessly between Action Camera-style mount to Quick Release mount easily.✅ Side mount support - Perfect for horizontal mounting to reduce vertical footprint for those shy riders like me.✅ Tons of mounting points - Two cold shoe mounts and two 1/4" tripod thread provide lots of room for mics, lights, or other gear.CONS:❌ Battery removal is a bit awkward - The cage prevents the battery from fully sliding out, so even after it’s ejected, you’ll need to hold the battery tabs and wiggle it free. It could be considered a safety feature, but if you swap batteries often, it can get a little annoying over time.❌ Weak magnetic closure on mount - The magnetic folding mount unfolds a bit too easily when touched, though I couldn’t shake it loose.Overall:This K&F Concept cage is rugged, beautifully built, and full of practical features. While a few usability quirks exist, they’re easy to live with. If you want a protective, premium cage that makes your X5 feel even more like a pro setup - and yes, look great on your desk and in your car too - this is a strong pick.
