I got this for a trip to Glacier National Park (P.S. if you get a chance go there) and this preformed well. I wanted something light that I could use as a monopod and still use for hiking. To be fair I am a 250lb guy hiking with a stick that is not meant to be used in this way but it held up just fine. Some times if I pressed to hard (probably 150lb of weight or more) it would collapse a couple of inches. In addition at the end of the week the bottom rubber foot was barely on so I ripped it off. If I had it to do again I would because it fit my specific needs at the time (I was borrowing a camera so I didn't want to invest too much) but if I had my own camera I would try to find something better suited for hiking but that is just my needs.
