Good camera for day and night surveillance of your property
This review took a little while as I was having trouble charging the solar panel. It turned out that my metal roof got in the way of the solar panel in the middle of the day, resulting in it not generating enough electricity to charge this camera. Now I'll get this out of the way: static position cameras really are the right choice when it comes to security cameras. They help keep an EYE on what exactly you are monitoring and protecting. PTZ cameras are great for LIVE surveillance of what you want to protect. The problem with all PTZ cameras is that there is NO timeout and the camera does not automatically find itself where it was before. After all, I like the image of this camera and I always try to remember to manually put it where I want it. That way I always aim it exactly at what I want to keep an eye on. Now this camera will notify you that motion has occurred and you can try to capture it live. I usually watch the end of an event, but with ANY camera connected to my phone via the internet, sometimes you get lucky and can open it right away. But mostly I have to look back at the recordings. And the recordings sometimes don't capture the start of the event. I don't think this camera is ONIV compliant so it might not be able to connect to an NVR but why would that use up the battery as the sun can only generate enough to run this camera around 4-6 days without a charge to keep going. Good for long periods of no sun such as in a hurricane situation. The internal SD card slot is a must as it allows you to save any event directly and on demand (if your camera has a working WIFI connection). You can use an external battery to charge it if you don't have sun for a while. I like solar cameras because I don't have to run new cables to the camera. You need to plug in the cable that you run to the camera so there isn't a long cable hanging out of the world. Now I'll have to hang this again when I figure out how to hang this camera on vinyl siding. It slopes upwards due to the shape of the fairing. I'm thinking of a wooden wedge. And I'll work on that at some point. It has night vision and color night vision which is NICE. It uses an array of LED lights to illuminate the subject and it looks great. Pros: Solar powered, rechargeable via battery bank, SD card slot, color night vision. Cons: If there is no sun after 5 to 6 days, you need to charge the battery.
