It's definitely authentic RODE mic. I love the smaller size, fits great on my iPhone 6S. The dead cat cover is great. The Rycote suspension mount is great. I bought a Ztylus Z-Grip to go with it and it fits with the Rycote, but I wish the two would work together because there is nothing securing the suspension to the Z-grip, though firm, it could easily fall apart. With this kit I not only had to buy a Ztylus Z-Grip, I also had to buy another outlet cord to connect the RODE mic to my iPhone 6S. The one that came with the kit doesn't fit. I bought the RODE SC7 TRS to TRRS Patch Cable and it fits my iPhone 6S, but the RODE part never quite stays plugged into the RODE mic. I will have to zip-tie it. It's a little inconvenient, but let's be honest, there's no better mic on the market than a RODE.

This is the best Mic ever! I own 12 Mics and this one is one of my favorites. It doesn't get in the way like my Rode shotgun Mic on my camera. When I turned away from the camera my voice levels hold quit well. The background noise cancelled out well while shoting video and my subject came through nice and clear. PS. Love that the mic doesn't need at battery!

I bought this exclusively because of the multiple reviews and claims online that say this microphone is the BEST on the market. I tried making a video using the microphone and did notice a substantial difference. However it doesn't cancel background noise very well. I was still able to hear a microwave sound in the background. I'm guessing the noise it really cancels is wind mainly. Other than that I plan on using this in the future. It is small and okay for the price itself.Thanks!

This device does noticeably improve upon the onboard mic quality of my Rebel T7i.With that said, the $200 Rhode mic is an even bigger improvement. So if you are really focused on getting the best audio you can, you should obviously spend a bit more. I kind of wish I had gone straight to the $200 instead of starting here. But if you're on a budget this thing is outstanding for $60.

This is the perfect on-camera microphone for run and gun filmmaking. It's tiny and it sounds better than it should. The shock mount completely eliminates handling noise and the windscreen can stand up to most outdoor environments. It's small enough that I could keep it mounted on my Fuji X-T3 on a Ronin-SC gimbal.But don't expect the world. It won't match or replace a properly placed high quality boom or lav mic. It is fantastic for what it's designed to do.

The microphone plugs right into the camera and is powered by the camera which means it turns off and on with it. That’s very helpful considering it’s quiet easy to forget to “turn the mic on” which counted ruin and kind of video you plan on making with it. This is the absolutely best beginner mic that you could get. Sounds exactly like my 300 dollar mic set up at my desktop and is very cheap considering the quality you’re getting. Not to mention it comes with the fuzzy wind protector that helps out a lot for outside vlogs, content in general.

If your camera supports and external microphone then look no further. These mics are very durable and the sound quality is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an external microphone to mount on a camera.
