Our cable bill is over $200 a month, so we were looking for an alternative. We live within 25 miles of Chicago, way out in the suburbs. For $20, this HD antenna is a great investment. It was really easy to install and it hangs on the wall behind our flatscreen TV. You’d never know it was there. We didn’t need an amplifier in the burbs, so it doesn’t plug into an outlet (just the TV). It took a little searching on our smart TV to get the channels to show up, but within ten minutes we had over 60 local channels. The picture quality is really good because we’re close to Chicago. We get the regular Chicago channels (2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 32), but there are also kids channels, themed channels, foreign language channels and tons of home shopping that I’ll never watch. Way more than I expected. I was really surprised at how good most of the shows looked. Really full HD for the core channels. The one downside is on the Guide. Many of the channels have “no description available” in the Guide so you have to click on it to see what’s on (just like in the 80’s). But that has more to do with the on-air programming than the hardware itself. The HD antenna does exactly what we hoped it would do, and we plan to cut the cord in June when our cable contract ends.
