Surprising amount of clean bass and possibly the most comfortable headphones Bluedio have made to date
The Bluedio Faith F2 with ANC provides excellent sound reproduction in what must be one of the most comfortable pair of headphones Bluedio has ever made. The sound profile is very pleasing with good highs, controlled mids and stronger bass than I was expecting given these are not advertised as having extra bass and that these are part of Bluedio Faith or F Series. The ANC works well and is similar to that found in the Turbine T4s but the sound from the Faith F2 is slightly cleaner with more bass with ANC engaged than the Turbine T4s.As to comfort these are amazingly comfortable. The oval design of the the ear cups fit easily over my ears and the material and padding is incredibly soft. You can easily wear these for extended periods without discomfort or ear fatigue. The included carry case is very nice and will provide plenty of protection for the headphones.I am a Bluedio fan due the the quality of the construction and sound profiles provided by the different Bluedio series and, including the Faith F2, own several different models:- Turbine T2s (my first Bluedio headphones)- Turbine T4 (recently claimed by youngest son)- Turbine T4s (recently claimed by oldest son)- Revolution R2- Victory Pro (the gold standard for clear punchy bass and sound quality in bluetooth headphones)- Vinyl Plus (as close to clean, audiophile quality reference sound as you can get over bluetooth)So having access to these other headphones I am able to make comparisons to models which are targeted at similar markets, price and features.I also have several corded headphones, the Grado Labs SR80e being a favorite, but always limit my reviews of wireless headphones to other wireless headphones. For this review I will briefly compare the Faith F2 to the Turbine T4s, as they are the closest match in the Bluedio line up, in the detailed section below.Given that I have these other headphones where do the Faith F2 fit in?The Faith F2 headphones will be the ones I will use when I go outside the home due to the sound quality and availability of noise cancellation if I need it.Now for a more detailed look at my impressions of the Bluedio Faith F2 headphones.PackagingThe usual Bluedio presentation is present, which is to say it is far above what others provide. The magnetic closure on the inner box is an example of this level of detail Bluedio puts into it’s presentation. All of the items are packaged securely with no rattling or loose items. There is a place for each item in the packaging which adds to the security and high end feel.ConstructionBluedio makes good use of metal in construction at stress points which makes the headphones feel sturdy. The joints and pivot points do not feel they will break anytime soon due to this use of actual metal.Even the buttons are well made, fit securely and provide good tactile feedback. The band and ear-cup material are of very good quality with ample padding.ComfortFor me these are over ear headphones and adjusted easily to a comfortable fit.The ear cup padding is very soft feeling and did not get too hot with extended use.And I found the clamping force just enough to ensure a good fit but not feel vise-like.Ease of UseThe Bluedio Faith F2 paired quickly and on first try (tested on several devices). They will also auto-connect to your paired device when you turn them on without additional manual steps. The buttons are in easy to reach positions and provide good tactile feedbackCharging with the USB-C port worked as expected and was able to charge from laptop and generic USB chargers without problemsBluetooth QualityAs noted in the previous section pairing was quick and easy on devices running IOS, Mac Os, Windows 10 and android (my version is Android 6.0.1)The bluetooth range is excellent in almost all environments and depending on the device I was using I was able to walk into any room in my house, both upstairs and downstairs without losing the connection. Also of note is that there is no lag or delay when watching videoSound Quality in Normal modeI listened to different genre of music to get the best impression of how the Faith F2 would handle different type of music. From a personal perspective my usual music taste is leans toward music with multiple and complex layers of sound preferring highs and vocals over exaggerated bass but I can appreciate good music no matter what type it is.I found the overall sound profile tends toward a balanced sound without overly reshaping the response to allow the original engineering of the music to come throughMore specifically the highs are well controlled and pleasant when listening to classical music. The vocals clean and slightly more present than expected but that is also a function of what type of music you listen to and how the original recording was engineered. While not being “bass-head” headphones the bass is unexpectedly strong, pleasing and is what I tend to call appropriate. If you push them, the volume can get very loud and reached levels high enough that I personally found uncomfortable when set above 50%Sound Quality in ANC modeThere is no way around it, ANC use will compress the sound of the music. This is an expected effect of how any active noise cancellation technology works and I have experienced it to one degree or another on every pair of active noise cancelling headphones I have used. What you will most likely notice is that the highs and bass are somewhat compressed with ANC active. The soundstage is also much smaller sounding.I used ANC successfully while riding in a car (was not the driver), at my favorite Starbucks and working in the yard with while using several different powered lawn tools and ANC reduced the unwanted noise.Personally I would much rather loose a little dynamic range far more than cranking up the volume to dangerous levels to try to overcome noisy environments. One thing I discovered is that on iOS devices if you select the Hip-Hop EQ setting for Apple Music most the dynamic range from Normal mode is restored and the unwanted noise is still reduced!I would suspect that other devices with an equalizer function would have a preset profile that would perform similarly well.To be clear even with an EQ is use I would not recommend using ANC in always on mode or in quiet listening environments (i.e. inside the home with normal background noise or library) as the passive sound isolation provided by the seal and padding of the ear cups are good enough in those cases.Microphone/Call QualityI tried the Faith F2 with my iPhone 6s and the sound quality, as reported by the persons I talked to, described as very clear and sounded as if I was using a above average grade external microphone. The microphone sound quality results the same when using phone for audio only calls or using my MacBook Pro during live video conference calls. While this could also fall under ease of use, the call answer/end, voice assistant (Siri in my case) and volume controls all worked as expected with graphical feedback on the device I was using.Compared to the Bluedio Turbine T4sIf you are reading this review you may be trying to decide between the Faith F2 and the Turbine T4s.In my personal opinion I would say that if the price difference is not an issue the go for the Faith F2.I do not feel you can really go wrong with either as they produce nearly similar sound and ANC effectiveness. That being said I feel the Faith F2 have larger a soundstage, produces slightly more and punchier bass and is more comfortable for me personally due to the oval ear cup design.
