Compact flash to always have in your bag
I had the opportunity to test this K&F Concept mini flash on my Sony ZV-E10 and it's certainly great for its size, when you hold it in your hand you really understand how practical it is to always have it in your photo backpack, it's literally the size of a palm and the weight is negligible. For those like me who often travel for improvised shootings, this aspect makes the difference, there is no longer the excuse of “the flash is too cumbersome” to leave it at home. The hot shoe system works perfectly with my ZV-E10, it attaches solidly without the need for strange adapters or complicated configurations, I also tried it on a friend's Canon and it behaved just as well, the ease of use is really a strong point: you plug it in and it works. The 8-level power control is what convinced me the most, having the ability to adjust from 1/1 to 1/128 means being able to manage practically any lighting situation. During my tests I used a lot the level 1/16 for close portraits and the 1/4 for situations with more ambient light, the LCD display is clear and readable even in strong lighting conditions, which is not obvious for devices of this range. The built-in 2000mAh battery is good, K&F declares 500 shots at full power and in my tests it proved to be very generous, I did a session of about 200 mixed shots (between different powers) and the battery was still far from running out, the fact that it is recharged via USB-C is very convenient, especially since by now we all have USB-C cables around, the green indicator light tells you when it is ready for the next shot, eliminating the anxiety of not knowing if the flash has recharged. The recycling speed of 0.1-1.8 seconds is more than acceptable for a flash of this size, it is not as fast as professional 300 euro flashes, but for the use I make of it it is fine, the synchronization up to 1/250s works without problems and I have obtained clear results even in dynamic situations. The three modes (M, S1, S2) cover basic needs well, the manual mode for total control, S1 and S2 for optical activation when needed, the included diffuser softens the light well, although obviously it doesn't work miracles given its compact size. The only small limitation I noticed is that at full power the light can be a bit hard for very close portraits, but just go down a couple of levels or use the diffuser to solve, for the price and size, this K&F Concept proved to be an excellent companion for those looking for a portable and reliable flash solution without spending a fortune.
