Well Made--Good Value
Before I begin, I want to emphasize that this review is more a critique of non-proprietary gimbal systems than it is of the Zhiyun specifically. Prior to switching to a RX100 + Zhiyun M2 setup, I was using a GoPro with GoPro's Karma Gimbal and I had totally taken for granted the sort of conveniences a proprietary all-in-one system can offer. So when I switched to my new setup, I was very disappointed to realize that the Gimbal itself has no means to actually control the camera unless you either plug it in (simply not an option without some weird right angle adapters or other jerry-rigged solution) or the bluetooth/wifi configuration. The latter works OK but is far from perfect. There is a delay on boot-up as the camera has to re-connect and of course the actual power of the camera can not be controlled by the Gimbal so you still have to turn it on manually. The battery life is way worse using this bluetooth remote crap too. That aside, the Zhiyun M2 seems to be a good gimbal. It's smooth, intuitive, and comes with a host of actually usable features that actually work (like the Selfie Mode, Pan Follow, POV, etc...). Battery life is also great. However, I will be returning mine. This isn't the solution I was looking for. I'd rather just use a plastic tripod or Sony's vertical vlogging grip.

New firmware = it just works
I bought this unit almost a year ago because it seemed to be (and I think it still is) the only one available with every one of my requirements: IP based, iPhone notifications, video, 2-way audio, ability to unlock the door from anywhere in the world, motion sensor, WiFi/Ethernet options, keypad code entry, optional doorbell, switch, etc. The unit arrived quickly and well packaged. It has all the cables you need, plus some more. It’s solidly built and it looks perfectly ready to withstand the worst weather. The metal case should have been a little bigger to let room for the cables in the back, but you can make it work as it is. And when first hooked up, the 720 HD video signal is sharp and clear. There might be some more modern-looking devices (The Doorbird), but I needed a keypad to allow entrance with a numeric code, and this seemed to be the only one to include that option. Now the bad part. At first, the software was just not ready for prime-time. The unit had frequent disconnections, choppy audio, time sync would just not work… I was ready to give up but I got in touch with their Canada support website. They were extremely kind and sent me a firmware update that got rid of pretty much all the annoyances (1.7.1.211 to 2.3.20.4). I had some trouble with the upgrade and they even offered an exchange unit with the upgraded firmware. At the end, the upgrade went through and the unit is working fine. It’s solid and versatile. It has everything you can ask for in an IP camera (rtsp streaming, onvif, NVR-ready, etc) plus the added benefit of being able to watch and talk to a visitor, unlock the door from anywhere, get motion alarm alerts through email or ftp, and even allow entry through a simple numeric code in the keypad. You can let someone in with a code and then immediately change it in the app so it no longer works. It might not be the most modern looking, but it’s certainly the most flexible. Just make sure you get the upgraded firmware.

Ciak, Azione!
Ottima action camera. Buon acquisto a tutti!! :D

Everything but the kitchen sink!
Since we're back into the GoPro business, apparently, my wife and I decided we'd start looking for some basic accessories to replace the ones we've lost over the years. Ultimately, we decided on this kit as a place to start. When it arrived, it came in a nice ballistic nylon type of case... but it actually seemed a bit small.Upon opening it, I realized my mistake... it's not that it's small, it's just that the manufacturer is incredible at packing things into the included case. How incredible? *laughing* I can't seem to get everything back into it.There are so many accessories, I don't think we're going to be using half of them this fall/winter, and will take a year or more to get a full idea of how well this entire kit is going to work.Still, what I can tell you, is that while I normally agree that you 'get what you pay for', this packaging of accessories definitely are worth more than the pricing. Now, that SAID, realize, that much of what you get in this package seems to be ABS plastic mounts, adapters, and the like... if you're trying to compare everything with heavy steel alternatives, then by all means you're going to find issues with these.HOWEVER, if what you're looking for is an all encompassing starter kit for a GoPro (due to the some of the form fitted cases, I wouldn't recommend this for anything other than a GoPro model camera), this is probably the one you're looking for.We tested out the silicone case, the extension arm, and one of the mounts this past weekend, while doing some back road driving, and they seem to hold up, well. Can't wait to test them out on the trails, or playing in the snow this winter.I imagine this is going to turn into a long term review, as we use more and more of the accessories over the next year, but for now.. I'm still amazingly surprised. Definitely recommended.

Best monitor yet
This monitor has been the best we’ve ever had. It’s small and compact.Pros:The rotating camera actually works. Very seamless movement. It obviously can’t do a complete 360 degree turn in any direction, but it has helped us really keep tabs on our toddler when she gets out of her bed at night. The picture is clear and the audio works well. We haven’t tried many of the other features yet, but we’ve had it for several months now.I also like the hook style stand on the back. I can look my finger through it and carry lots of other things with it. Our old Motorola just had a stick stand, and I dropped it quite often. Small detail, but it’s made a big different when holding a toddler, stuffed animals, and a water bottle up to the second floor.Cons:It does lose connection sometimes. It’s usually only for a few seconds, and if we move it even just a foot, it will usually reconnect. We haven’t had it just flat out lose connection all together. It’s more like a blip. It happens most often when we’re across the house. Every monitor we have had does this, and I will say that this monitor does it less often compared to those. It just seems like an issue no matter what model you have.Lastly, there doesn’t seem to be a quick way to change the volume. You have to go into the menu and click on volume while I think most monitors just have this on their key pad. We don’t alter the volume much though, so this isn’t a huge problem for us.We’ve had a Motorola monitor, another Amazon monitor, and a plain old VTech audio monitor. This one takes the cake in all aspects. We will absolutely order another one of these in the future for our new baby. I’ve recommended this monitor to numerous people and I will continue to do so!

Not the best, Not the worst, Better than most and
Overall, like the title says, it works really well and a long distance and the IFR light on it is fairly powerful at a long distance lighting up reflective objects. In the moon light it is very clear for what it is and does.Pros:1.) You have a really good night vision scope anytime you need one and will not hesitate to use it.2.) Wife loves it, she can sit on the back porch at night and keep an eye on the chickens when the coyotes come around. She can see them coming in a half-mile away and let me know when to start sending out warning shots to chase them away.3.) You have a really good night vision scope anytime you need one and will not hesitate to use it. Yes, I said it again. Very well built easy to use and glad i got a good middle of the road unit for my needs.cons:1.) Cannot turn off the IFR light - Would like to be able to not be seen by the glow of the red IR light - can over come with tape but would be a nice option that way when you are watching someone they cannot see you and the red light.2.) Cannot dim the brightness of the LCD eye monitor. It would be nice to drop the brightness down at night fir the same reasons as stated above.- a.) The LCD is so bright that if you take your eye away it lights up your face and can be seen from a far distance.- b.) Cannot use your shooting eye when looking through eye piece because it will destroy any night vison due to the brightness.3.) Digital Zoom SUCKS! Anything with digital zoom sucks but...-a. excellent light and Digital zoom looks great even when taking photos, so if your subject is being lit from a source you can zoom in and get great detail-b. Poor lighting - just sucks but that is with anything "camera alike" device.Better than the other units i saw for less, plenty of videos out there to support its worth at the current price.

Fantastic value, solid little controller.
A very solid controller. I have a few minor gripes to bring up with it. First, the triggers. The left trigger gives less resistance than the right trigger which, in fairness could be a slight defect with mine in particular. The button presses seperately feel fine but using them together feels strange to my hands. Next, the battery life. It dies unfortunately quickly compared to some of the other controllers I own. I'm sure turning the glow off would extend the battery life by a good amount but I really like the look of the controller when it's all lit up. Lastly, the rear buttons. Setting them up exactly how you want them is simple and it lets you do a surprising amount of things with them (first controller I've owned that lets you set up macros), however, the button placement leaves room for improvement. The two that are basically on the grips are wonderfully placed if not a bit on the small side, but the two closer to the center of the controller are incovenient to use if both thumbs are using the sticks. For many people the appeal of the rear buttons is to be able to press the face buttons while also having full movement and camera control, so having to almost take my thumb off the stick to be able to press them kind of defeats the point. They can still be useful as a macro button, but if they were positioned on the grips below the other buttons they'd be perfect. Everything else is as you would expect for a decent quality controller. The plastic feels sort of middling quality-wise, not the best I've ever held but far from the worst. Face buttons have a nice press to them, d-pad isn't too squishy, turbo button is fun to have. Overall it's a very good controller at a price that makes sense, I would recommend it for anyone looking to add some variety to their controller collection or even if you just need another controller for group sessions.

Stands up to the Manfrotto reputation and my deman
I'm a Real Estate photographer doing multiple homes each day. In order for me to accomplish quality shots I depend on being able to set up and tear down quickly. These units will help me do that in a heartbeat.I've been using some JTL stands that came with some cheap strobes purchased years ago. The 5001B stands surpass them in every way. 1st, they are compact and I can hang one on each side of my Canon camera backpack without worrying they are going to tear the straps off. There minimum height is exceptional considering their maximum height is so high. Easy to pack, fold up and extend. I wish I had found these sooner but I'm so glad I did. If your looking for something compact, sturdy and durable I'd highly recommend these. I'm waiting on some other equipment to arrive from Amazon and as soon as get them I'll post pictures of these stands side by side with my Canon flash heads mounted with various diffusers and accessories attached. Theres not much that I could say that hasn't already been said by other posters other than since the legs can lay flat I can slide them under couches and hide them much better than the normal inverted V shape that most stands utilize. You can also configure them in the inverted V angle if you desire. One tip, if you do run the legs flat on the floor make sure that they are FLAT. It's easy to tighten them in a position where the legs are slightly upward which will make them a bit wobbly and unstable. This is not a fault of the design and it's worth having a stand that will lay flat so long as you make sure they are indeed flat. If you want the ultimate compact stand and it's max and minimum height and price meet your needs look no further. These reek of quality.

A simple and VERY powerful film about real scienti
This an outstanding film. I do not say this lightly. Based on the trailer and 'tag' lines, I expected a decent alien invasion or aliens-among-us film. This is not that at all. In fact, for the first twenty to thirty minutes I was tempted to move on. Slowly the character dynamics began to hook me. The bulk of the film is a tight focus on three scientists and their work. Unlike most movie scientist who run around babbling about breakthroughs, statistics, and are simply window-dressing to make the alien/weird situation a tad more believable, these are working pros who discuss their work along with the real life dynamics of corporate ugliness. I was really surprised the film spent so much time with these guys in their car, showing their computers, print outs, etc. Nothing spectacular. No aliens banging on the hood of the car after a ten to fifteen minute inroduction. Just a wonderful portrayal of an astro physics professor and two aerospace engineers talking, getting to know one another, and coming to realize the subtle but very real barriers they've errected against one another are actually preventing them from doing their best work. This alone would have been a really good character study on friendship. But then!!!!! Something happens! No, the aliens don't invade, start shooting heat rays or take out light sabers and wiping out the US military. No, the kick-ass portion utilizes real science and presents a very realistic scenario about how first contact just might occur. (very similar to the way Robert W. Sawyer writes in his novels) It's amazing how much tension can be built up over some 'static' coming out of a computer. Some very minor plot 'duh!'s but not enough to take away from the film as a whole. The film is quiet, simple, realistic, and tightly focused on the three scientists throughout. The special effects are almost nil, and you do not miss them one bit. This is not that kind of movie. The script is sound and believable, and the camera work and editing very good. This is a SUPRISINGLY GOOD movie! Check it out!
