A:The search coil of MD3040 metal detector is 20% larger than the normal detector, and it can detect a maximum depth of 8.7 inches (for a 25-cent coin), which is deeper than other normal detector.
Q:Does it have a ground balancing feature?
A:Yes, MD3040 gold and silver metal detector has a ground balance function, which has been set by the manufacturer in advance and no adjustment is required.
Q:What type of headphones work with the detector?
A:Headphone with 3.5 mm jack to connect with MD3040.
Q:What kind of batteries work with the detector?
A:MD3040 metal detector work with 2 X 9v batteries（NOT INCLUDED). Also, you can replace them with rechargeable 9v battery. It will last 8 hours on the state of continuous detection.
Q:Does the detector work well in the water or the snow climate ?
A:Yes, the search coil of MD3040 is waterproof, you can use it in the water as usual. But can not get the control box in the water, it's not waterproof.
Q:Is the detector back-light for easy viewing?
A:Yes, you can adjust the level of LIGHT from 0 to 9, which is displayed on the LCD. But as the back-light consumes more power, it’s better to turn off it in light places.
Q:Is it suitable for kids?
A:Yes it's adjustable from 1030 mm to 1330 mm for kids.
Warm Tips:
1.If you don’t plan to use the unit for a week or more time, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
2.This is a "motion" detector, the search coil must be moved to detect the presence of metal.
3.Use and store metal detectors only in normal temperature environments. Extreme temperature will shorten its life.
4.The coil is fully waterproof, but the control box is not waterproof.
5.It is best to use a metal detector outdoors because there is too much interference indoors.
6.If the detector keeps sending out unstable signals on site, it may be that the sensitivity is set too high. Please try to reduce the sensitivity until the error signal disappears.
7.Use headphones to extend battery life and prevent annoying bystanders from spotting you. For safety reasons, please do not use the headset near traffic or in any dangerous place.

A great metal detector
I have never tried this hobby before, I got this Metal detector a couple of days ago. The device itself is quick and easy to set up with no tools required, its lightweight and comfortable so good for long periods of use. It also seems to have all the features you would need. I have only tested it in the garden so far as it has not stopped raining, it finds the nails and £1 I hid easily, the pinpoint mode works really well.
Although I had it up running and working in a few minutes it will probably take a bit of time and practise to dial all the settings and preferences in too experience the full functionality of this detector.
The metal detector compacts down to about 1m and fits into a carry bag that is included for easy transport.
I would say the metal detector is great for beginners who do not want to spend a lot of money before they know if they like the hobby, I am sure you will make some great finds with this machine.

Ideal if you live in the suburbs
So in preparation of the covid restrictions being lifted in the UK, I planned to do something fun and interesting with the kids, essentially trying to be outdoorsy. This here was the problem, because being from London we are very much use to being a concrete jungle meaning there was not much places we could use the detector. We do have parks and the odd meadows but legally we can not dig up the ground if the device does detect something underneath.
In regards to the device itself, it is well packaged and the amazon delivery as always was timely and efficient. The product itself does feel sturdy and durable but the main downside is the price. Compare to other sellers it is quite pricey but I am not sure if the high price actually means it is any better than the competition. All in all, it is fun for the kids to go around and detect items but unless you have a garden where you can do a treasure hunt for the kids then be prepared to only detect items without digging for it.

Nice item for beginners, main issue is the elements it detects are all US metals which can't be changed, as far as I can find. My fault for not checking, but still lighter and plenty of fun
