This mic does not work with my IPhone. I bought several cables that were supposed to fix the problem and none worked. I would keep this in mind as it has been very frustrating.

The sound quality from this over the built in iphone mic is dramatic. (Although my wife wasn't as impressed) Much clearer/cleaner sound overall and easier to adjust volume levels in post production editing. In an echoy environment, it eliminated most of the echo and reduced the background noise enough I was able to edit most of it out.Size is great. Its very compact. I do wish it came with the correct cords to hook directly to an iphone.

UPDATED after 1 year:Only for vloggers or close ups.Obviously better than the in-camera mic, but not the greatest quality. Will require lots of post-editing. Lots of echo and noise pickups.Overall reasonably priced package that includes a shock mount and fuzzy windscreen. No batteries required for this mic. I use it as a backup mic with a Y splitter so that it goes into the left channel, and my Sennheiser AVX-MKE2 lavelier for the other channel.Eventually sold this item. I recommend looking elsewhere.

Worked great right out of the box and required very little setup on the M50. I live near a busy road and took it for a walk around the yard to test it. It's a huge upgrade to the internal microphone in the camera and does a fantastic job of cutting out all the background noise. No more "crunchy walking sounds" while walking and talking thanks to the microphones directionality. I am glad I finally picked this up after looking at it for a long time. Which I had done so sooner. Get it, you won't regret it.

Love it but I was misled to believe it could work with my gopro as is. Now I have to order adapters smh

It may be less noticible to those less minimalist - I have very little in the way of sound deadening nick-nacks on the walls or around the house, so it may picking up sound bounced off the empty walls and hard surface floor.
