Nifty little mic, but quality control seriously lacking. Right out of the box the back fell off and the ground wire was broken off of the connector. You can see the way they soldered it, there was/is no mechanical connection and it was clearly done in a hurry by hand. If your mic doesn't work out of the package, open it up and get out your soldering iron. Once repaired, it's working fine and as advertised. Nothing about the packaging lead me to believe this was a returned item or used, so I have to believe it was factory quality control lacking.

I still have my lavalier microphone but I hardly use it and I don’t miss it. With the Rode On Camera Mic I get great audio faster, because I don’t have to mic and de-mic my subjects. I also get great ambient sound when shooting b-roll.

Absolutely one of the best for the price point. I use this on my iPhone for nearly in every video for the family, vlogging, and sporting events.

I will give this an A for sound quality and an F for the design of the dead cat. The wind muffler is too big and heavy and is in all of the shots from my recent trip. The weight of the dang thing makes the shock mount sag forward so that you see a lining of fuzz in the top of your shot. If you intent to use this with your GoPro then you must buy an extension for the hot shoe.
