By all accounts the 16 appears to be superior and
I bought this lens for one purpose and that was for tripod mounted landscape shots. Given the cost difference and that I generally shoot between f/8 and 11 for landscape it was a no brainer to choose this lens over the 16-35 f/2.8 II. I give the 17-40 5 stars, it performs well for it's intended purpose at an affordable price, and has met all my expectations from the description and reviews. However, since my purchase Canon introduced a new kid on the block, the 16-35 f/4 is. By all accounts the 16 appears to be superior and has IS at a slightly higher price. Given the choice I certainly would have gone that route but I am satisfied enough with my 17-40 that I'm not willing to make the switch.

Im using it on my Nikon 28mm f/1.8 and Nikon 85mm f/1.8. Same diameter on both lenses.

Great Sturdy Tripod
I needed a stronger tripod to handle the weight of my teleprompter and the new 4K camera I purchased. It works great but the only issue I have is the side lock screw that holds the base plate in place gets stuck when you have the camera loaded on the tripod. Its hard to turn but other than that, its a great sturdy tripod for the money.

Amazing Camera!
This camera is everything everyone says it is. Amazing picture quality, great image stabilization, and whisper quiet shutter. I paired this with an Rf 50mm prime F 1.8 and shot some amazing video at a work conference. Honestly, if you are not shooting 8k video or need 30+ megapixels, just get the R6 and you will be happy.

Nice gift for girls
This is a very nice gift for all boys, girls, and even adults. I really liked the concept of it. the quality is good and the control is easy.

A bit complex but read the manual!
You will need a PC to actually use this. Instructions are clear and easy. After you get he concept it’s easy to use!
