I have had so much fun with these filters. UV and CPL are glass unlike other reviews that say not! I would recommend them.

I have been using these accessories on the 50mm prime lens for a Canon SLR - the famous 'nifty fifty', which is a very popular alternative to the standard kit lens and quite rightly so. This package is a very good way to get a decent range of filters for it without breaking the bank. The UV filter is worth keeping on all the time to protect the lens itself from scratches, and the polarising filter can be very useful for shotting through glass or water where you will get all sorts of reflections. The other filters are for more artistic uses, applying a graduated colour across a scene. Sure, you could just take snaps and do all that in photoshop, but it is much more satisfying to do it the old-fashioned way. It feels a lot less like cheating. There are a couple of pouches included. One holds three filters and the other holds six. They are well-padded and so quite bulky, but not enough to be a problem if you have a proper camera bag, and they close up with velcro fasteners. Also included is a lens cap. All lenses come with one anyway so this isn't essential, but well worth having as a spare, just in case. It has a strap that you can attach to it with a self-adhesive pad so as not to lose it. I don't think I will use that as I have managed to not lose any lens caps so far, though I may well find another use for it.Completing the set is a cleaning cloth and a lens hood. The jury is out on whether hoods are really essential, but it certainly looks good.I think my other lenses are going to be getting very jealous of the nifty fifty from now on!For info: this review is based on a free sample provided by the manufacturers for review purposes.
