I had the opportunity to test this K&F Concept mini flash on my Sony ZV-E10 and it's certainly great for its size, when you hold it in your hand you really understand how practical it is to always have it in your photo backpack, it's literally the size of a palm and the weight is negligible. For those like me who often travel for improvised shootings, this aspect makes the difference, there is no longer the excuse of “the flash is too cumbersome” to leave it at home. The hot shoe system works perfectly with my ZV-E10, it attaches solidly without the need for strange adapters or complicated configurations, I also tried it on a friend's Canon and it behaved just as well, the ease of use is really a strong point: you plug it in and it works. The 8-level power control is what convinced me the most, having the ability to adjust from 1/1 to 1/128 means being able to manage practically any lighting situation. During my tests I used a lot the level 1/16 for close portraits and the 1/4 for situations with more ambient light, the LCD display is clear and readable even in strong lighting conditions, which is not obvious for devices of this range. The built-in 2000mAh battery is good, K&F declares 500 shots at full power and in my tests it proved to be very generous, I did a session of about 200 mixed shots (between different powers) and the battery was still far from running out, the fact that it is recharged via USB-C is very convenient, especially since by now we all have USB-C cables around, the green indicator light tells you when it is ready for the next shot, eliminating the anxiety of not knowing if the flash has recharged. The recycling speed of 0.1-1.8 seconds is more than acceptable for a flash of this size, it is not as fast as professional 300 euro flashes, but for the use I make of it it is fine, the synchronization up to 1/250s works without problems and I have obtained clear results even in dynamic situations. The three modes (M, S1, S2) cover basic needs well, the manual mode for total control, S1 and S2 for optical activation when needed, the included diffuser softens the light well, although obviously it doesn't work miracles given its compact size. The only small limitation I noticed is that at full power the light can be a bit hard for very close portraits, but just go down a couple of levels or use the diffuser to solve, for the price and size, this K&F Concept proved to be an excellent companion for those looking for a portable and reliable flash solution without spending a fortune.

In this review, features, pros and cons are skipped as many other reviewers have done that already. This flash is a basic *fixed head* flash which works in either manual or sync mode. And having a guide number of 12, it will be in short range situations. The S modes:In sync mode, it is a matter to adjust the power to fill the needs. The two modes must be experimented and select appropriate power output for the situation. Limitation - close range. The M mode:A little history first... In the most primitive electronic flashes, only full power release was available. The only operational data was the guide number. Those flashes were electrically inefficient and quickly use up batteries. Then early on in the 1980's flashes came with an onboard sensor (non TTL) which will cut off once the sensor senses the flash reaching the subject. As time progressed, more and more flashes comes with TTL dedicated to specific cameras. They are more power efficient. Hot shoes and sync cables came in all different varieties. Flashes then had angle bounce and small filler front flashes. These flashes yield excellent photos. Why going back to manual? INEXPENSIVE. With this flash, we take a step back from TTL and need to figure out the optimal operation. My old school operation...Given the assumption a digital camera is used in manual mode, consider the existing lighting situation to set a predetermined ISO and depth of field (the aperture). Then select a usable sync shutter speed to work with the lighting condition. Be known that this is a short range flash, choose the power setting on the flash to get the best results. Experimental shots are required to collect operational data. With this data on hand, the flash power adjustments will be less of a guess work. Over frequent usage, this data become as familiar as the back of your hand. This flash serves great as a learning tool. Professional usage might limit to slave operations in close range. However it is a great little helper flash when one is needed in the lighting condition of the shoot.New into flash photography and don't want a learning curve? Then avoid this flash. Like to experiment, this flash is fun.
