The lenses are weird to figure out; zoom-in is insignificant. The light is a little dimmer than expected.

Slide tray is a little shaky at high magnification. Other than that it’s a good one so far.

Easy to use, only complaint is that the battery pack base was lacking two metal plates to complete the circuit. This is not a problem as using the power source provided was always part of the plan.

I purchased this microscope for an online Anatomy course. The microscope did its job! The image was sharper than I expected. I am used to using high quality Nikon Binocular oil compound microscopes which start around a thousand a piece. For the price of this microscope I was amazed at the quality and the build of it. It really did surpass my expectations. I was able to see all components of the cells. The only thing I wish this had was a moveable stage rather than having to move the slide but that would increase the price so I understand not having it. I highly recommend this for online courses.

I‘ve used this scope for soil biological analysis dozens of times. Here's pros and cons:Pros- well built & solid in all respects. Optics good enough for evaluating soil micro-organisms (bacteria and protozoa), aggregates, fungal hyphae at 400 x and below. Battery power enables portability to the garden shed, etc. Heavy enough to sit solidly on a working surface without worry about tipping over. Objective lenses have spring-loaded retraction that will avoid breaking slides or cover slips (this was an unexpected bonus).
Cons- Optics above 400x (using the WF25x eyepiece) pretty poor. Lack of slide adjustments means manually moving the slide around on the stage, which is hit & miss. WF10x eyepiece has a center-locating device and that can get in the way sometimes (easily displaced tho). Kit does NOT come with slides or cover slips, so be sure you have some handy when the scope arrives (i.e., order separately).
I may eventually upgrade to a binocular scope with stage adjustments, but this will make a great gift for the grandkids (and their parents).

Love portability, variable light, works very well on low and medium power. As other reviewers have said, high power is too blurry to be of use.

I bought this to do some work at 600 x, and it worked well. 5000X gets a bit wonky but 600x will give good detail in most situations. Odds are I‘ll be doing an LED upgrade for more light since it's not enough in 5000X. Even with that drawback, for the price it's quite good.

This scope met my expectations. Seems to be built well. I like that it has a fine adjustment knob. I also like that it can use a battery and does not have to be plugged in all the time. Very convenient. I was REALLY disappointed that they did not include a slide with the scope. Not one! Maybe it is not standard to Include glass slides with a new scope but it cost me something like $10.00 for a pack of 100 slides and all I wanted or needed was ONE!

Great beginners microscope. I used this at a STEM camp and it was awesome. It is super great that it has the option to be battery powered.

I work in a laboratory and my daughter wanted her own microscope for Christmas. While I wanted her to have a nice microscope I also knew we did not need the capabilities of a professional scope at home. The reviews for this microscope were good so I decided to give it a try. A high end scope it definitely is not so if you are looking for bells and whistles you will need to spend more. That being said it does absolutely everything we need it to and the kids love it. I would recommend for anyone with kids that are interested in science, it has been a lot of fun to have around.
