Diffusion is consistent across the filter, no chromatic issues

The accessories that K&F Concept have been releasing have been consistently good, and this filter is no exception. The build quality is solid and the price is reasonable.

I already had a 1/8 and 1/4 black mist filter, which are pretty subtle. I wanted to try out this 1/2 filter to see if I could get a more obvious effect without being too over the top. This filter seems to be about the right strength to achieve that. The filter provides a subtle general softening effect across the whole image, but is most noticeable when there are specular highlights. In that case you will see a distinct bloom around reflections and lights. If you are using a polarizing filter or a long lens, you might not get as much of an effect. Overall though, I like the effect this filter provides, especially if you are going for a cinematic look for video.

Very well made filter, with clean, smooth threads, and flawless optics. The black diffusion is a bit of a subtle effect, but gives pics and videos a little something extra, and makes them a bit more cinematic.
The lens clothes are a nice bonus, and work well too.

My wife and I have a YouTube channel, Well Travelled Life, and we produce weekly videos focused on our traveling, music and life style products. I have been experiementing with different filters for my video shots, and I've found K&F's filters to be affordable, quality options. This particular filter is a "black mist" type filter and it's featured here in high strength. Black mist style filters are typically rated at ⅛, ¼ and ½ strength. Black mist filters bring in two noticeable effects on your recorded image. First they tend to blow out or cause bloom to highlights, particularly point source elements, like car lights, street lights or the sun filtering through tree branches. They also tend to reduce contrast in video and photographs, which makes sense since the filter contains small elements that diffuse the light somewhat--with ⅛ filters having the least effect and ½ the greatest amount. If you're just experimenting with black mist filters, I suggest starting with a ⅛ strength filter to explore how you might use the effect in your videos and photographs. This ½ strength filter will dramatically reduce contrast and blowout highlights in your videos & photographs, which may or may not work for you. You can always add some contrast back in post. The price is attractive and makes it easy to explore if this technique works for you. Recommended.

Every shot I take is behind a K&F filter the image quality is never distorted and I love the quality the put into all their products.

Fantastic filter. Use it on a Fuji XT-30 II. The effect is subtle enough to leave it on pretty much permanently but it really improves the mood of my photos and takes away the "digital harshness". I love the effect it provides for portraits and especially how it adds some blooming/softening to lights. Especially for the price this is a great filter and I'm excited to try more from this brand.
