Originally wanted a binocular microscope, but then I started looking at c-mount adapters to have a phone attached and it was going to be a bit too much. This Digital Microscope will not get you to the cellular level, but its near focus and magnification are very good for general inspections. It's compact, has a proper base and has a decently sized screen.Initially I thought I'd use this for when I am soldering small components onto PCBs, but I see that'd probably damage the lens with the flux smoke. It's good for general soldering inspection and recording. The clear acrylic guard doesn't seem to be removable and serves to indicate the minimum focus distance. The ability to connect the camera to a large desktop screen is definitely a big selling point. The screen it comes with is very clear and it a decent size, but when you have more than one person looking at it, you'd want a bigger screen. However, when you are in that mode, the image is piped to the computer and the built-in display is blacked out (only reads "PC Camera"). Connecting it was really easy as it's detected as an external camera just like a webcam would. So I can also see cases where we'd want to present something on Zoom (bonus points) without having to record it and the load the image onto a slide deck. The manual it comes with says that on a Mac you should use "Photo Booth" to capture stills. Since it's detected as an external camera like a webcam, you can use QuickTime to capture videos or any other application for image capture or video recording.I also noticed I can adjust the image size with a single hand. While moving the subject around with the other. I can bring the camera up and down (there is no "zoom", so the lift and lower the camera with the included base adjustments) at the same time that you adjust the focus. What I was missing is some type of clamp on the base itself. In a full size microscope, the table has X-Y granular movements. But this made of solid aluminum (still light) and it looks I can tap it to add a small table and clamps.Optics are pretty good. If you are viewing something that's too shaky you'd notice a "jello effect" of the image (rolling shutter). That's not a big deal for most use cases, but worth mentioning. It comes with a 32GB micro SD memory card! And its batteries come with a charge, which means you can use it out of the box.Important to mention that the lights it comes with are really good and that the separate remote is crucial for being able to trigger an image/video capture without making the whole assembly move.Does not include a micro-SD-to-SD adapter (for using an SD card reader), but the same cable that is used for turning the microscope into a "PC Camera", can double as a Mass Storage Device.Overall, quite impressed.

As a new comer to electronic at age age this is a must. So easy to read boards and reading the writing on small items.

Like: is reasonably well made. Dislike: it's difficult to change lenses, the manual is poorly written and the text size is very small and hard to read, difficult to focus the 2000x lens. I used the product to examine microbiological specimens. Seller helped me use the microscope for effectively.

I got this as a gift for my Step-dad who is notoriously hard to shop for. He absolutely loves it .

I purchased this for my friend's grandson, who is very smart and extremely curious about the world. He had it up and operating in no time and is examining anything and everything, from food to bugs to hair to dust... you name it, he's checking it out! The big 7" screen makes everything look awesome. It's easy to adjust and focus, the light is nice and bright and it is very sturdy. I am very pleased with this purchase! it arrived super fast and was really a bargain when you consider the advantage it can give a curious little mind for the future, not to mention his grateful mother for him to entertain and occupy himself during these long days of quarantine.

Works well for a variety of things,But the battery dosen't last as long as they said...thankfully you can plug it in while using

Overall works nice when you figure out how to use it, blood cells are viewable but not as large as I would like to see, hope they can offer 3000x in a future lense attachment. Pictures and video capture work nice, you can then look at things on a big screen.

No assembly is required, just open the package and plug in the power supply to use it. The light is not very bright, but it can also be used as local lighting. The biggest advantage is that there are two lamp heads, so that the lighting is more uniform, there will be no shading , which can be seen more clearly.

We bought this as a simple and inexpensive microscope to view and live record via photo or video small parts and printed circuit board assembly soldering. For the price we weren't expecting much, but it far exceeded our expectations. Picture and video quality is good for our work and allows more than one person to view a component simultaneously versus staring through a standard microscope eyepiece. The recording capability allows us to share the observations with other team members or our vendors! Great collaborative tool!

I am very impressed that this high resolution microscope with a good color display is so relatively inexpensive. It's not the cheapest either, but it has a lot of power and features for the price.I am a characterization scientist for a living. I have been analyzing digital microscopes for the past several months to find ones that I like for laboratory use and home use that are also relatively inexpensive. This microscope, using the 2000x magnification lens, has the best resolution of any microscope I've tested so far (other than ones at a lab that cost several thousand dollars each). I use a standard USAF 1951 resolution target, the industry standard for determining how much detail a microscope can ACTUALLY see. The reference target itself is a precision device that costs three times more than this microscope, so I have been sharing this info in reviews so home users can benefit from real data. When looking at the clusters of lines, you typically decide what the smallest set is that you can still see individual lines, some will be blurry when they are too small for the microscope to see. For this microscope, I can see all of the pairs clearly, which is amazing for a microscope this inexpensive. That means it can see at least 228 line pairs per mm, or features that are less than 2 microns (0.0002 cm or 0.00008 inches) in size. I verified that by looking at a sample of blood cells, which are 6-8 microns in diameter, and the cells are easily resolvable. The key here is that they provide two lenses. One is optimized for fine detail, and it has very high resolution, it lets you see cells and other items prepared on flat glass slides. The tradeoff of that is that it needs a lot more light, and the focus is on a very thin region which is why the cell samples are on glass. It is a fact of optics that as the magnification increases, the depth of field gets smaller. There is no way to have high magnification and see features that are 3D. That is why it is great that they provide a lower magnification lens too. This low mag lens needs much less light, and you can see 3D items well.If you look at the difference in size between the glass in the two lenses, you will understand why the high magnification lens needs more light. The glass is much smaller, so it's focusing less light onto the camera sensor. For photographers, this will all make intuitive sense too, since the same basic optics laws apply. Finally, the screen on this seems to have good color rendition. Many other microscopes have terrible screens. I don't like that I need to push a button on the screen to take a photo, it makes the sample shake, but you can simply use it tethered to a computer for that. The screen is still amazing for live viewing. On my Mac, it doesn't act as a full 12 MP camera, but that may be a settings problem for my computer. The focus adjustment is decent, I find it easier to move the sample stage to get good focus.I'll update this review with more images later to show off some other good uses of this microscope. Once again, I am impressed with the performance for how inexpensive it is.
