Really really helps with sound quality in videos! Note: Do NOT plug in OR unplug the device while recording because it will cut off all sound and you'll have to re-record!

I bought this mic to use on my Sony A6500 camera when I am shooting footage for my youtube channel. I really like the mic and it produces really good sound. The main reason I bought this mic was I normally shoot outdoors and it is always windy where I live. The wind is a big pain for me and I was hoping that this mic would be the solution to this. I did some testing on this mic in some 30 to 40 mph winds. I think it did reasonably well. While it did not completely eliminate wind interference, it eliminates 98% of it. This is better than any other mic I have tried so far. There was only one time during a 40 mph gust that there was some mild interference, but my voice was still understandable.

This will be much better than your cameras onboard preamp. I've used it on a Pansonic G9, Canon 80D, and Fuji X-T30. However, you just have to know what to expect from these types of mics. Having your subjects 10-15 feet away will be optimal, anything beyond that and the volume during playback won't be as loud, obviously as a result of their distance. The most significant difference between this and your built-in camera audio is the control over the ambient hissing sound. This is a cardioid condenser mic that is good at filtering out background noise and isolating the voice of the speaker for recording. It's a great directional mic which means it's does best at pickup up audio when your subject is in front of you. Overall I have not complaints. Check out audio tests between this and the Movo and the Boya. All reviews talk about how similar they are with the latter 2 being 10-20 dollars cheaper. There is very minimal difference but people usually prefer the cheaper ones because of how close they are in sound at a lower price point. Because this does have a slight, very slight advantage I will keep this one and pick up a Boya as a backup or spare.

As a beginning vlogger I needed a small mic/audio set at a good price. My only hesitation with purchasing this set was the possible fragility of the shock mount. I am pleasantly surprised that the mount does have flexibility but is rigid enough to be stable. I will update review after I use the mic and mount more. Otherwise, this is a great value!
