I have a Canon 7D and the difference it makes is a lot. It is good quality build and works great for the price. Would recommend.

I'm leaving a 5 star review because the product was shipped right away and the quality of the product is good. It was packaged well. The quality of the parts are good. I couldn't test out the sound quality because it does not fit on my Canon g5x. I'm actually writing this review to let people know that the camera doesn't even have a microphone port. I thought the port was for a microphone, but it is for a remote (and it's a much smaller port). Anyway, I hope this helps you save some money on time and shipping costs.

We are new to the vlogging world so take this review with a grain of salt. However, we have been very impressed with the Rode Micro! Sound quality and directional recording is excellent. We were filming outdoors with a lot of peripheral noise and the audio was great with minimal interference from the extraneous noise. I have it paired with a GoPro and it was seamless. Oh and the price makes this unit a slam dunk purchase.

I saw good reviews of this mic, but the sound quality is really bad. I connected this to a Nikon d5500 and have and terrible static background noise. I'm very disappointed. I will try with another jack cable, whishing that could solve the horrible noise.

This mic is highly recommended by the big YouTube videographers as an excellent mic for iPhone and YouTube, and all my expectations were met. However, there are several points to comprehend:1. This is not made specifically for smartphones, and does not include the required SC-7 cable. The Rode VideoMic Me model looks exactly like this model, and does include the correct cable, but cannot be used with any other device, like a Cannon M50 DSLR. This Video Micro can be used with any device, and I do plan on upgrading to a camera eventually.2. I you are more than five or six feet away, consider a BOYA lav mic with a long cable. You have to be pretty close to this one, but that is the point of shotgun mics.3. get some screw adapters (3/8" to 1/4") for your kit, and you will find mounting possibilities open up for tripods, boom poles, etc
