1.75 miles in a wooded hilly area of New England
Pros -Set it up to connect to a cheap low watt radio my son has. I talked and drove for right around 1.75 miles out from the house before he let me know he'd lost my radio signal (we used cell phones to communicate the loss). I'd say not bad since we live in a heavily wooded area with hills. Setting it up with repeaters can only make it better.Con- it's not intuitive to configure manually, you will need to purchase the programming cable and download some freeware to help you configure the channels and settings you need.
