Snug Fit
Works very good. No play when rotating focus ring on lens.

Much sturdier and sharper Canon 50mm lens!!
I purchased this lens in April 2015 to use as one of the lenses on a film shoot. This lens blew me away, the infinite focus ring allowed me to seamlessly focus without hitting the focus limit. I previously had the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, and you can immediately feel the difference in hardware quality and image sharpness. Finally, it is MUCH quieter, it is comparable to a very quite laser printer. Overall, if you are on the fence about upgrading to this lens, I really recommend it.

Great lens for mirrorless
Buy this lens for my Canon M6. The auto focus speed is fast. Image quality is very impressive in sharpness and colour. Manual focus ring feel a little small.

Its Better in almost everyway
What an amazing update to the old nifty 50. I did some side by side tests and the new coatings make a huge difference. There are the bad flares of purple in the original version 2 of the lens that are complete gone in this version. The focus ring is a actually usable for people without hobbit hands and the back has a metal mount. The build quality makes it look like a professional lens too so no more walking around embarrassed at the sight of expensive DSLR with a plasticy lens on. It is "FOCUS by wire" now which kinda blows and makes it slower to focus, but you can move the focus ring whether or not its set to auto and I find that often caused issues with old lens breaking. All and all Canon could have asked 150 and instead offered it for the same price. Great lens, great price a must own in opinion.

Best lens in the world under $250.
Amazing little Lens again. I owned the original version of the 50 1.8 and it was a great buy for the money. This one is amazing. Great image quality and finally a decent little build with smooth focus ring. There is no lens in the world under $200 that compares. That's the truth.

Incredible improvement!
Incredible improvement from the previous version! It is sharper, the focus is more accurate, the focus motor is so much quieter!I highly recommend this lens over the old version. And it is even better (in my research) than the 50mm 1.4 red ring version.

Great staple lens. You won’t regret this purchase!
This lens is a MUST HAVE for everyone. The bokeh is so soft and the images are super sharp. Super fast auto focus and if you focus manually the ring is very smooth.

Fantastic Lens
Amazing lens, excellent price. Great upgrade to the 50mm f/1.8 II. Focus is fast and quieter. Manual focus ring improved. Bokeh is also supurb. This just seems like a no brainer purchase.

A nice little Prime.
I normally shoot zoom lenses, but I do like to keep a couple of prime lenses for when I really want to keep the size and weight of the camera down. This lens takes a fine picture, the autofocus is good, and the stabilization works well. Even better, since it is a fairly wide lens, if you want to focus on something a bit further out that the camera just doesn't want to pick up in auto (it likes contrast points) the manual focus ring is nice to use, not too fast, not too slow, and with the manual focus assist it's pretty easy to get a sharp picture. Also, it's not going to break the bank if something happens to this lens - so it is ideal for more adventurous photography attempts.
