Compact and versatile, but charging could be better
K&F has stepped outside their usual accessory line to tackle V-Mount batteries, and this first attempt shows promise. The immediate impression is positive - an appealing aesthetic with a compact form factor that feels satisfying in hand.
Design highlights:
Compact form - Great for field work where size matters
Grooved face - Useful for gripping and likely helps with heat dissipation
Standard V-Mount plate - Compatible with professional broadcast equipment (lights, monitors, cameras)
LED indicators - Battery level indicator and mount light for dark environments
Performance: At 99W, this battery delivers solid power for 2-4 hours depending on your device's draw. I've been using it primarily with field monitors and appreciate the portability compared to bulkier alternatives.
Connection options are excellent: The D-Tap connection is essential for my workflow, but I'm impressed that the USB connections (including USB-C) make this versatile enough to use as a personal power bank when not on camera duty.
The main drawback: The included USB-C charging cable seems insufficient for a battery this size. At minimum, they should include a 12V or higher brick for proper fast charging. Having to source your own adequate charger is disappointing. This may contribute to the sub $100 USD price factor.
Minor quibbles: The LED battery indicator isn't very precise, and while the mount light is a nice touch for dark setups, it's more of a novelty than truly useful.
Overall: Acceptable build quality for K&F's first foray into V-Mount batteries. Good enough to recommend, especially given the compact size and versatility, but the charging situation keeps it short from being a perfect product.
