Excellent design and performance
This is a well-designed camera system that really does a fine job.PROs*PICTURE QUALITY: Excellent. in HD mode, produces videos and stills at 1920 x 1080 resolution. (See images)*CONSTRUCTION: Good overall quality, with nice attention to detail. Example: the rubberized cover over the charging port and SD card slot is about 1/4" thick, providing a truly weather-tight seal. In addition, this cover has ANOTHER separate cover for the charging cable from the solar panel.* MOUNTING: Both the camera and the solar panel come with a well-designed mounting bracket that allows good flexibility.* MOTION DETECTION: Works well. The app has a decent range of adjustments. The camera seems responsive to the sensitivity adjustment (a scale from 1-10). My setting is 6; the camera will trigger on cats and dogs. A separate group of switches are provided to limit detection to "human only", but I have not tried these.* BATTERY LIFE: Excellent. I purposely ran the camera without the solar panel connected, just to get a feel for the battery inside. After 9 days (with night vision enabled) the battery monitor dropped from 5 bars to 4.* SOLAR PANEL: Nice, compact size; mounts easily; provides ample power. After connecting the panel to the camera, it restored the battery to 5 bars within about 1 hour. I have no doubt this panel can fully power the camera. NOTE: the panel must actually face the sun for the camera to charge; bright daylight is not sufficient.* WIFI: Adequate. I think the antennas help. A previous camera I used in this same location (no external antenna) struggled to maintain a good connection. In my installation, the camera is separated from a wifi extender by about 40 feet and a brick wall. The app reports the wifi strength at about 60%. This is sufficient for a data rate around 80-100 kB/s.CONs* The App. Adding the camera is straightforward and works well. Using it to manage the video files is a little non-intuitive. Each time the app is opened, it must connect to the camera; sometimes this fails and must be repeated. Transferring a clip to another device can be done, but requires several steps.
