46mm Fader ND2-32 (1-5 Stop) Variable ND Lens Filter Neutral Density Filter for Camera Lens NO X Spot Nanotec Ultra-Slim Weather-Sealed
SKU: KF01.1165
ND Filters are an essential for some types of photography such as moving water effects - and which I suspect I'm overdoing a bit.... And of course there are millions to buy and a huge range of costs. I've tried loads from the super cheap Chinesium resin to some decent quality ones and now this.
First off it's optical glass. And that makes a difference because the resin type whilst not bad if you treat then with utter care tend to scratch easily and of course the optical quality no matter what the blurb says is not nearly as good as decent glass.
Secondly it's really well made. I mean up there with the stupid priced stuff well made which I've tried and used in a well known camera warehouse. This is a genuine 100% top class bit of kit in terms of the standard of manufacture and the general feel of it. Smooth in action with a perfect optical clarity across the range of density.
In use it is super easy. Fit - which is smooth given the well made thread and then rotate the outer ring to the desired level of darkness. It saves a load of faffing with different filters or stacking them.
Honestly, if you want a good range of ND filter (not graduated of course) then this is a great choice. I used it on my Zeis Batis lens and it worked a treat.

Used a a couple of time so I may review again in a month or two. So far, a few videos and some stills and I have no issues. I haven’t used it at it’s darkest yet but, just a few stops in and there are no issues. Body of the ND is well made and solid, easy to use and so far I’m very happy. I’ve looked at many, some are up to £300 and for the price, with no colour cast to show and no dark cross issue. This has my vote. May well increase the rating to 5 over time.

►Easy to remove? I would recommend to use both hands to make sure you remove the filters properly.
The most interesting filter for my type of work is the ND1000, makes a massive difference. I dont have to explain things like filming at f2.8 when it is bright outside + shutter at 60 for 30fps because you already know what I am talking about.
Make sure you choose the right filter size, check and double check your lens size.
►Overall experience?
Impressive techology!!
