I bought this adapter to mount my dad's old AI lenses to my Nikon 1 J5. I set the camera to Manual as suggested and the whole setup works flawlessly. The camera meters properly. Shutter speed, ISO and exposure adjustments may still be changed freely on the camera. Aperture and focus are of course adjusted manually on the lens. The build of the adapter is very sturdy, and all metal as advertised. I'm very happy with my purchase, and the price was excellent! I works correctly with my dad's old Soligor 2X teleconverter and my Nikon 1 mount extension tubes. I could not be more pleased with this little (but hefty) piece of hardware.

There is nothing wrong with the adapter itself but a word of caution before thinking that you can use your lens from your Nikon DSLR on the Nikon1.First you need to consider that the adapter does not provide a communication between the camera and the lens. AND the Nikon lenses mostly DON'T have the possibility to manually change the aperture - meaning that you will be stuck with an aperture at F16 for example or whatever the smallest one of your lens is. Which kind of defeats the purpose of it all.With an aperture at F16 you are forced to maximise the shutter speed and even crank up the ISO in broad sunshine. Simply useless at times.

Works as listed and I received the package wayyyyyy sooner than I thought which is a plus! I ordered a Nikon AI lens off of ebay that works perfectly with it. If you are connecting to a Nikon J1, remember to set the "Exposure" in the menu to "Manual," or you will keep getting the "Check Lens. Pictures can only be taken when a lens is attached."

The resultant pictures are so dark even set ISO=HI and a pretty slow shutter speed (1/15)."The brightest picture" (Please pardon the blurry picture):I used Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD for test. The adaptor works fine when I used a trick to keep the aperture fully opened (ISO=200, exposure time=1/15)."The reference picture":Under the same condition (ISO=200, exposure time=1/15), taken by NIKON 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 (F4.5).

Excellent service from supplier and good experience for refund. Unfortunately, this device will not work with my Nikon J5. The camera displays a message saying no lens connected. It appears to be needing an electronic connection. This is the only reason I have not given the top box as the product was well-made and delivered quickly.
