The tulip hood is no good for canon EF-S 18-55 f3.5 - 4.5 because filter ring rotates when camera focuses.

If you can't make up your mind on what lens good you might like, buy these! You get the choice of the flower hood and the retractable one. I love both of them and good value for money it's nice to have the lens cap as well if you need it. Very happy with my buy :)

These arrived in a simple box that won’t fit through your letter box. There is a tulip hood, a rubber hood and a lens cap.I tested these on the ‘kit’ EFS 18-55mm lens on a Canon 500D. I’m going on a beach holiday so I don’t want to take big lens so its back to the kit one.The tulip hood screws on unlike my more expensive 78mm EW-83J that I use on my main lanes the EFS 17-55 mm. With it being screwed on, when the camera is focused the hood rotates. At wide no zoom this can be seen as a black ring. It’s a simple matter to rotate it back out of shot. There is a ring on the tulip that allows it to be locked in place. It’s a little faffy but at the price what can you expect? The plastic seems OK and not brittle. The rubber hood screws on easily and has two positions, on and folded back. Again at wide no zoom this could be seen in the viewfinder. Zooming in soon makes it disappear. The lens cap is a simple pinch. It doesn’t work too well with the tulip but fine with the hood.I had no problems with either of the hoods using a Tiffen 58mm UV filter. At this price the minor issues are acceptable as you get what you pay for.I’ve uploaded some photos including one showing the black ring effect.
Fine with Canon 500D and Kit lens 18-55 mm

This is a 3-piece accessory kit for a camera with a threaded lens (in my case, a 58mm thread). I use this kit with a Samsung NX-300 with the 18-55mm zoom lens and it fits that lens well. My experience with this kit has been mostly positive.Included in the kit are two lens hoods and one lens cap. I will discuss each separately. The lens cap is, to me, the best component in the kit. It does not look like a particularly exciting item, but in this case this lens cap actually fits my lens better than the original cap from the manufacturer. It is tight and is seated evenly on the lens assembly. As an added bonus is has a lanyard that allows it to hang on the lens barrel so it does not need to be specifically tracked when it is not in place covering the lens. The second item in the kit is a tulip hood for the lens and it is neither better nor worse than the one that came with the camera. It does an acceptable job of keeping the lens in the shade instead of allowing sunlight to hit it directly. Note that when the tulip cover is in place the lens cap will not fit.The last item in this kit is a rubber hood that works similarly to the tulip hood and it helps prevents direct light from angling in to hit the lens. This one component is the only one in the kit about which I have anything critical to say, and it’s this: when the lens is zoomed all the way in the edges of the hood can be seen in the picture. It does not take much to zoom out past it but it still merits some mention.I am satisfied with this kit. It includes two hoods and a lens cap that in my case is better than the original that came with my lens. This is a decent kit at a good price.Disclaimer: I was provided a sample of this product in exchange for a fair, honest and thorough review.
