Great budget alternative to the tiffin filters. I would recommend these over the tiffin!

It feels a quarter step stronger than BPM 1/8 but close enough. I have about a dozen of the Tiffen but will be getting these from now on. Original lens hood and lens cap still work!

This was my first experience with black diffusion filters. As someone who has always strived for the sharpest high resolution images, the whole idea of deliberately blurring the image seemed counterintuitive. However, I now understand the phrase 'cinematic effect' and the concept of softening portraits. Todays ever higher resolution digital images and harsh lighting can seemingly highlight any imperfections. With the use of these black diffusion filters, in association with a warmer lighting temperature, the unforgiving nature of digital photography can indeed be softened. As someone old enough to have shot a great deal of film, these filters are reminiscent of premium color portait film. This two pack - 1/8 and 1/4 diffusion, are a great starting point for a newbie to diffusion filters. K&F concepts product and packaging are, as usual, above their price point. The inclusion of 2 filters is an additional added value.

I am NOT a Pro Photographer, a Noob @ best.
Not being a pro and messing around with these.
-Lots of bloom
-Makes certain shots look angelic like (if thats a way to describe it)
-softens skin (my camera has that feature built in, but i dont use it)
-if i was filming a hero shot in the sun, this would be what i would use
Overall I wish I knew more to tell you about these, but im still learning, and this will be a handy tool to make my hero shots look more cinematic.

It's a very high-quality filter, and I appreciate the addition of microfiber cleaning pads. I always have it on my 50mm lens, and I tried it for night photography, and it's great. 5 stars.

These were a huge help for my photos. Great quality and lightweight. I use with my canon rebel t7 and have no problems.

If you are looking for a way to soften your shots without spending a lot of money this set may work for you. I found that the effect of the 1/8 filter was barely noticeable except in the details. The 1/4 filter is still subtle, but you do start to see the effect that the filter has, especially when you have a lot of contrast in the image. In low contract shots, the effect isn't really all that pronounced though.
The threads of the filters are cut well and the build quality is excellent. Artistic filters like these are very subjective as to whether the effect is desirable, but I am quite happy with them.

So two things - how good is the filter - and when do you use diffusion.
The filter build quality is actually really nice. The K-Series only has 18 layers of coating vs the 28 layers on the nicer series. But at $50 for two filters, I'm not complaining. It's a clean image without flair or distortion (used individually).
Now, the use of diffusion is mostly for special effects. 95% of the time I'd rather add in image softening in post production (reduce clarity, for instance) vs having my digital file soft. However, if you are doing video work, volume, film, or special effects, this is a great tool.
My favorite use is for Old Hollywood style BW portraits. Use a 1/4 diffusion, convert to BW, add contrast and Grain - and you've got a sexy image with some serious retro vibes. I love it!
