The K&F Black Mist filter is my first filter that creates an effect. I had no previous experience with it and I am honestly very pleasantly surprised. Of course, it might be a completely different story for someone who does have experience in this area. The filter is delivered in the folding box that is typical for K&F. In addition to a plastic box in which the filter is wrapped again, there are three sealed microfiber cloths for cleaning the filter and the lens from dust before assembly. What I personally really like is the coating on the metal ring. Filters often have a very smooth finish and are difficult to tighten. Here they opted for a matte and very non-slip coating. The grip is further supported by two zones with ridges and you can tighten the filter very nicely and without any problems. It would be whining at a high level if they wanted to point out a better fitting storage box for the filter. There is nothing to complain about in terms of the fit and the smoothness of the thread. Therefore, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Good filter for taking special photos, maybe a little too strong, better 1/8

Love this filter effects, its what I was looking for, it does not come off of my Fuji X 100 V! the dreamy vintage look is amazing, good quality glass and the 1/2 mist is what I was looking for, not too soft, just right to my taste, at a great price! I highly recommend this filter!

This threaded easily onto my lens. It does produce a softened effect to images, which will be good in select applications and lighting situations. Although a similar effect could be achieved in lightroom in post-processing, this allows the ability to produce these effects straight out of the camera.

It feels solid and well made.

If you're looking for this effect, this filter is a good choice to achieve it.

As a videographer, I am absolutely thrilled with the K&F Concept Nano-K Series Black-Mist 1/4 Filter! The effect the filter creates is simply amazing. The filter really comes into its own, especially when shooting outdoors or in special lighting conditions (neon signs, streetlights). Skin also appears wonderfully soft and natural in photos and videos. The filter is of very high quality and robust. Mounting it on my lens was quick and easy. The filter fits perfectly and sits firmly on my lens, but doesn't jam. I can recommend the K&F Concept Nano-K Series Black-Mist 1/4 Filter to every videographer and photographer. It should be a must-have in any kit, as it can make the difference between good and great shots.

Since the advent of digital photography, I haven't been a big filter guy... I use circular polarizers and neutral density filters to create the image - then move to software in the computer to apply the desired effects.

When given the opportunity to try K&F's Black Mist Filter - I jumped at it, as a good filter of this type can save a lot of time in post-processing - particularly when used for video.

A black mist type filter is designed to push highlights while preserving the shadows - and the effect is to create a dreamy, hazy kind of look without destroying the contrast of the image. Portrait photographers use these types of filters to help eliminate the excessively sharp image quality of modern digital photographs - and do so without making the image appear out-of-focus.

Another attribute is that it can help improve the bokeh (out-of-focus areas) so that a lower quality lens can have smoother, creamier bokeh.

The first thing I noticed was that the threads of the filter were extremely precise in fitting my step-up ring. The filter screwed on the ring with the smoothness you would expect from a high-end filter.

I took a few selfies while finding different lighting to experiment with - and I was surprised at how well it held good focus while creating the desired look. I can see myself using this in a variety of filming circumstances. All in all I'm very pleased with this filter and would recommend it to anyone looking to add to their arsenal of photography tools.

This filter is very well made; the glass is beautifully clear, the thread is very smooth, and the grooves on the frame make it easy to grip. The effect is clearly visible. The photos appear harmoniously soft but remain sharp. Colors are not altered. The images are somewhat softened without being blurred. The filter is stored in a simple plastic box with foam. Nothing special, but it is well protected. Three cleaning cloths are also included. Overall, this is a very good product and the price is right. Whether you need this filter is something you have to decide for yourself. It is definitely an asset, and the quality is top-notch. We are therefore happy to give it a full five stars.

Excellent built quality…the effect is a little stronger, I will recommend the 1/8 which I also have and love. But I was looking for a more vintage look. Excellent value for the money.

The Black Mist filter makes the image somewhat softer and more "fluid." This is especially noticeable in bokeh (background blur) and light incidence. This makes the bokeh appear a touch softer. However, this effect is rather subtle. The 1/4 filter isn't overly strong. Especially in focus, sharpness remains quite high, which isn't a bad thing. In terms of quality, there's nothing wrong with the K&F filter. The filter does what it's supposed to and can be used well as a creative tool.
