This is a great way to get into a DSLR without spending huge amounts of money. The camera itself is more than capable of most anything you'll want it to do. The shooting mode options are similar to those on the canon rebel film SLR, and allow the beginner to transition to manual as they become more comfortable with less-automated shooting modes.When you get the kit, there won't be a memory card included, so make sure you've picked one up (16GB would be the lowest I'd recommend, especially if you're a beginner experimenting by taking the same picture a few different ways, it's nice not to have to worry about filling up the memory card. Also if you're using larger file sizes like RAW, the larger card is a good idea.). Otherwise the kit includes everything you need to get started.The manual is okay, though the pdf it comes with doesn't particularly elaborate on anything in the paper manual. However, the camera itself is pretty easy to figure out , especially for someone who is even a little familiar with SLRs, digital or otherwise.I found the battery life to be excellent, and there's a handy indicator on the screen to let you know when it gets down to half. It seems to charge pretty quickly, a couple of hours at most.The pictures it takes are true to life and look very professional. It's a lot of fun for someone just getting into digital photography or for the hobbyist with some familiarity. I'd strongly recommend picking up a camera bag, you'll find yourself wanting to take this camera with you wherever you go. If you want a little more freedom than the kit lens provides, a good option to consider is an 18-300 lens that will let you get some telephoto capability without sacrificing the ability to grab that picture of your friends sitting next to you.Overall:worth the money? AbsolutelyWould I recommend it to a friend? Already have, and will do so again.Would I purchase it again? Yes. Like my title says, overall it's good, for my Windoze 10 64 bit Pro OS. I unplugged the old partially working web cam and plugged this one in and it worked for me with no problem. Found the camera short cut in the menu and when I clicked on it, it worked without any problem. My only complaint, if that is what you would call it is the privacy cover. It has a sticky surface that you stick to the glass in front of the camera lens. In my opinion the slide that you open or close is on the flimsy , so you would need to be careful or you could pull the 'door' out of it's track. Either that or find something to drape over the whole camera, the way it's pictured, I thought it would be twice the size it actually is.

A lot better than I expected! Running it with OBS instead of Microsoft Photo allowed me to take advantage of many settings that corrected the many lighting issues I have in my studio. The only real con I have is the camera holder is not designed to grip a monitor's screen bezel, it just rests on top of the bezel and uses a hinged brace to adjust vertical aim. Secondly, the camera holder does not swivel side to side making the camera point only 90 degrees from the monitor screen. Not a big deal since the holder thoughtfully has a tripod mount screw hole. Manual focus is not as described, the camera bezel does not turn. Fish eye with the wide angle lens is minimal, since this camera was designed mostly for up close work like Skype and video conferencing, the amount of curvature out towards border areas is not really a big issue. I'm real glad I found this item, may even buy a second one soon.

My 2.5 year old daughter absolutely loved it! Loved it so much that she managed to lose it within the first hour of having it. This camera is small, less than 4.5" in total. And that may be being generous. Holding it for my daughter was easy, but hard to keep her finger out of the picture because of the size when taking pictures of objects and people. For selfies is fine because the lens is raised and it of the way. Navigating it took a second to catch on to, but not to difficult once you get the hang of it. The picture quality was definitely better than I thought it would be. I think the games could've been left off of the camera as they weren't very entertaining and the games and graphics are more of an 80's Atari. Overall a good little camera to suit the photographic desires of the little ones.

I developed a medical problem on the outer ear which can be seen straight away when facing the ear. I cannot get a good luck with mirrors or my iPhone. The macro lens for my iPhone provides too large a magnification. I have medicines for treating my ear, and from time to time I communicate with my doctor over the phone. My Logitech camera from many years ago (at least 10 years) could not provide a decent close up image. The 4K is not advertised as having macro photo capabilities, but I thought I'd try anyway, knowing I'll at least get fantastic resolution on normal pictures. The result for my situation: the camera provides very sharp close up views and snapshots (using a Mac and the Camera Settings app by Logitech). I can hold the camera with one hand, see clear images of looking directly at and into my ear, and take sharp screen shots with the other hand. Bravo for this camera!

Overall I am very satisfied with this camera. The image quality is good and kit lens works perfectly fine. I recommend this camera to beginners with a tight budget. You can learn the basics of photography and upgrade with some better lenses later on if you get good. The photo quality is the same megapixels as some of the recent smartphones, but you’ll get much better shots/photo perspective because of the lenses. The LCD screen has a pretty low resolution so it’s hard to know if your picture is good or not—really only useful for looking at the histograms. In video mode you have to manually focus so definitely don’t get this camera if you want to take a lot of videos. The single point autofocus can also be kind of sluggish. You’ll have issues with the camera autofocusing in low light conditions especially since there isn’t an AF light on this camera. Continuous autofocus works well, however.

Just received my Infant Optics DXR-8. Set both cameras up in my children’s room and I am super happy with the image. The image is super clear for the daytime and nighttime vision. I love the ease and simplicity of the camera and it’s feature. The toggle on/off switch on the monitor itself is great instead of having to hold down a button for an extended amount of time. Talking through the camera is very clear and easily Abel to understand all words being spoken. I love the ability to add lenses for whatever your purpose of the camera is for. The zoom lens has incredible visibility and still extremely clear. As for the battery life I will have to update later as we just got it. But overall super impressed with everything thus far.

Metal frame and decent glass. Fits perfectly. Great bargain compared to other brands.
