I’m a semi pro photographer and previously used a carbon fiber tripod which was super light but didn’t provide the strength and stability that an aluminium tripod does. But of course these aluminium ones are heavy. That however is the only downside to this. Everything else is a positive.
Firstly it really looks the part and very stylish. Doesn’t look cheap at all. It is sturdy and well made. The ball head is fantastic and provides you with lots of options in terms of movement. The centre column comes out and can be reversed in order to get those low down shots. Has a hook also for hanging your bag on for even greater stability. Rubber feet are easily screwed on and the legs can be opened quickly with the catches. Honestly this is a superb tripod and I recommend it to everyone from novices to professionals.

I’ve been really impressed with this K&F travel tripod – it feels far more like a mid-range “proper” tripod than a cheap lightweight stand. Folded down it’s surprisingly compact and slim, so it slips easily into the side of my rucksack without snagging on everything, but once it’s set up it extends to a very decent height. I’m just under six foot and I can use it standing comfortably without having to hunch over, which is a big win for my back on longer shoots.

Build quality is excellent for the price (around £60 at the time of review). The aluminium legs feel solid rather than flimsy, the flip locks snap firmly into place, and the whole thing feels stable even with a heavier mirrorless body and zoom lens on top. The ball head is smooth to adjust with proper 360° panning and an easy 90° tilt for portrait shots, and once you lock it off it stays put without slowly drooping. I also really like the centre-column hook – hanging my bag from it makes a noticeable difference in windy weather. The fact it comes with both a standard camera plate and a phone holder is a nice bonus too, so I can swap between my main camera and my phone for behind-the-scenes clips without carrying extra kit. You can still tell it’s a travel tripod (fully extended in strong wind you’ll want to weigh it down and be a bit sensible), but overall it hits a great balance of height, stability, portability and value.
